I WANT A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN!

Melissa, on August 30, 2010 at 6:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 32

Anyone else doing a chocolate fountain? What are you going to have for dipping? I would love strawberries but not sure if they will be in season in November. YUM!

You could have all kinds of fruits and pastries and cookies to dip, maybe even marshmallows? Yum!

Our venue doesn't allow chocolate fountains, but we had one at a work party once and it was AWESOME! We had pineapple chunks, strawberries, pretzels, little cheesecake bites, a few more kinds of fruit (can't remember... I was too busy eating the creme puffs!), graham crackers, marshmallows, creme puffs... uh... lemme think... That night turned into kind of a blur. lol

We're not doing one but one of my family members has one she uses at parties. Usually she has strawberries, bananas, chips, marshmallows and other fruits etc to dip.

My bridesmaid wants me to suggest cocktail shrimp. She says it's awesome in a chocolate fountain, but I'm not sure that would be good if you have people will allergies to shellfish.

We did one. We actually bought the chocolate fountain before the wedding, and resold it afterward. Our dipping items were:

    • Marshmallows
    • Bananas
    • Angel food cake
    • Fruit tray
    • Pretzel sticks

My caterer won't do a fountain because it is half vegetable oil. But my FH really wanted one so we are having chocolate fondue, all chocolate. Not sure of all being dipped but I know rice cripy treats, marshmallows, pretzels, and fruit.

Oh, and make sure the pieces are actually bite-sized. I had a strawberry at a bridal show once and it was so huge I couldn't eat it all at once and wound up getting chocolate all over my face. Very embarrassing.

Oh, if you have a chocolate fountain, Paramount Crystals are a better alternative than vegetable oil for thinning chocolate without diluting the taste. We ordered a pound of Paramount Crystals from Barry Farm Foods. One pound of the crystals was more than enough for 10 pounds of chocolate.

You can totally add rock candy!! if not for the chocolate fountain, it's an awesome idea to put next to the coffee & tea.

We had one at our wedding. We had those wafer cookies, strawberries, marshmallows, and angel food cake. It was extremely messy though.

We are doing one as well. I negotiated with the venue to have it done for free. They offer fruit, pretzels, biscotti, marshmallows and krispy treats. For our dessert we are having a mini sweet table with tarts, cream puffs, eclairs and other mini cakes. Can't wait to dip those in the fountain.

You can put skewers out for people to use instead of fingers. And maybe a bottle of hand sanitizer next to the food to give people the hint.

We are having one by a local vendor who does weddings, baby showers, and work receptions. We are having pretzels, creme puffs, strawberries, rice krispie treats, pineapple, and marshmallows. 20 days and I am so excited to eat it.
