We ordered the ring about a week and a half before Christmas, with the salesperson telling us that it would be in 5 days before Christmas. I took this with a grain of salt, knowing that he wanted to propose on Christmas. So I waited for the call that the ring was in, but it never came. So i figured that it wasn't done and wouldn't be until after Christmas. We went out with my family for my birthday. I was opneing presents, and he pulled one from his pocket and handed it to me, telling me that my ring wasn't ready, so he got me something else to open. I figured that was the case, so I start to open the box and find a ring box inside. Now I am thinking that he bought some other inexpensive ring to use for proposing, but when I open it, I find my ring inside. I am speechless, as it is so much nicer than what I had remembered from the store. He gets this look on his face and realized that he had messed up. He had bought me a necklace that was the present, and the ring was for after dinner as a surprise. We chuckled and he asked me to marry him, even though it didn't go as he had planned.
