You're better off getting a red dress. Dye doesn't distribute evenly on many fabrics and finished garments.

Agree - if you want a red dress but a red dress. It’s nearly impossible to evenly dye a wedding dress, especially with red.

If the bottom is a good fabric then you can dip dye it red but most wedding dress fabrics don’t dye well a a whole and it would most likely ruin the integrity of the dress.

Most wedding dress fabrics aren’t meant to be died and if you attempt to do this yourself you could in fact ruin the dress all together

I wouldn't risk it. I recommend you buy a red gown.

Ohhh, yeah, I don't recommend you try that. A coworker's daughter tried dying her original dress black and the color was splotchy and more grey than anything else. She ended up just buying a black dress for her wedding and using the ruined dress for a "trash the dress" photo shoot.

If you really want a red dress, I would just purchase a red dress. Or wear the dress you purchased for the ceremony and change into a red dress for the reception.

If you're looking to buy a red dress, David's bridal has a surprising number available in red. It's not super obvious on their website so I was surprised when I went in and they told me all the colors each dress was offered in.
