I regret not having video...RANT!

Angelica, on August 13, 2012 at 6:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

I have no idea why i didnt think more about this. i swear i feel sick every time i think about this. i look at the pictures and wish i could have video. i only have my point of view but ugh if only i would have spent some$$ on a videographer than all on my honeymoon. I just want to tell future brides to not make this mistake! i thought pictures themselves will tell stories but NOPE! i have so many good pictures but its just not the same...I wish there was a do over button. Blah....did anyone else regret not having video? or happy you didnt get it?

We didn't have it but I don't have any particular feelings about it. Sure, it would have been nice, but so would more flowers, and a cupcake table, and who knows what else.

Well my dad took video at the ceremony and only a lil bit at the reception, and my brother had a camera with festivities before..the ceremony was fine, but my dad recorded the toasts, first dance, got my dad and I's dance also and my dedication of bouquet..but anything beyond that at the reception was just my dad kinda dancing with the camera. So I was a bit disappointed with that (but do understand since he was going around talking to everyone of course). I don't mind since I have the important parts and really didn't wan to spend a ton of extra money for like what 30 min of tape that a pro gives you for the entire day.

Maybe someday you two can do a vow renewal somewhere fun like a beach or something and video that.

I've been up in the air on doing a video or not but I found someone who has reasonable prices and will produce a full length film telling the story of our day I'm pretty much dividing up the budget to be able to get photos and video. Since we will do both we most likely will only have 1 photographer rather than splurging for 2.

Some people did take video. But it was of what they wanted they focused on their gf or a pretty girl. My husbands uncle recorded but got just the exchange of the rings& his video was interrupted by his daughter(which is 26) because she was frantically crying. All in all I wish I had video. My flowers were perfect and so was my cake, just eish I should have got a videoagrapher. U ladies did good by getting one. I wasn't so lucky ): oh well u live&learn huh

Sorry you feel that way. Smiley sad H had to convince me to go for video, I always thought wedding videos were boring until I saw some of the highlight/music video edits being done nowadays.

So we had video, and I'm so glad we did, but there are other things I wish we had/had not done, so I can relate to your feeling somewhat.

Try not to stress. I hope you had a wonderful day!

There just is no money in the budget for videography but I do have talented family members who I'm sure will be glad to "shoot" the day for me. It won't be professional but at least it will capture some memories that I can look back on.

I hired someone to shoot the day for $500 and he gave me the raw footage -- like 3 hours. Obviously I don't want to watch 3 hours of video Smiley smile So after the wedding I interviewed video editors (I had full rights to the video) and got them to make me a ~5min music video, a short of the ceremony, and "outtakes" lol. It came out fabulous and I paid $300 for the editing (after the wedding, which was nice). It isn't as great as some of the ones on here, and is all from one camera angle, but for the price it's perfection to me.

There wasn't money in our budget for a videographer but someone will be taping it on a video camera.

My FH can edit pretty well so... that's what we are doing.

I'd rather have a shaky video than none at all.

We aren't having one due to budget but I really want video footage. I wish I could find a student who'd be willing to record for us.

I had a professional video at my first wedding but due to our smaller budget, we will not be able to hire a pro this time. My BIL is really into video so I'm hoping he'll do it.

We had a friend do it, and were very satisfied. We really wanted a record of the ceremony, not an arty slideshow type of thing with background music.

For budget sakes, we are having a friend video the ceremony and the important parts of the reception. He is also going to video the guests a little and allow everyone to say hi and will edit it to us to watch on our honeymoon (we leave a week later). It's not professional but will still be a great way to re live the day.

NST Pictures offers artistic wedding films that start at just $980 in NY, NJ, CT, MA, PA and CA. Don't regret not getting SOME sort of coverage, even if it's the very minimum. These regrets are stories I hear all to often. Get package info here: http://nstpictures.com/investment-availability/
