i need to rant about vendors- spell my name right vendors

Kate, on June 20, 2019 at 10:49 PM Posted in Planning 1 12
So a piece of advice if you run any kind of online store or a business that has clients that contact via email.... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD READ THE NAME OF YOUR CLIENT AND DOUBLE CHECK WHAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN BEFORE SENDING YOUR RESPONSE!
I'm just so annoyed currently trying to find wedding vendors and the amount who have clearly not even read what I've written and managed to butcher a simple name is just embarrassing. I've been using weddingwire which clearly shows your name and profile image to companies and I always sign off my messages to vendors with my name and it's such a turn off that they can't get it right. It's daft but it feels like they care more about leaping at the opportunity to make a buck than caring about the client even the tiniest amount to bother reading the message I took the time to send them about one of the biggest days of my life and a day I'm going to spend hundreds if not thousands at their business, they could make a tiny bit of an effort to make me interested in them. Ones who got my name wrong are instantly struck off the list!I just needed to rant about vendors- I'm sure you do too- feel free to leave your rants in the comments because I'd love to see I'm not the only one going crazy trying to hire people haha and we all need to get it out of our system!

That stinks I did not have that issue. When I first sent them a message on the meeasges here at times I just got a general message back. But in emails my name was right.

That happened to me too. Same situation, I sign my emails with my name Jazmín and vendors will still reply back and call me Jasmine, Yasmeen or whatever they thought my name was. Just copy and paste!

YES even the effort of copy and paste isn't much! I don't even know how they managed to get 'Kate' wrong, yesterday someone put "Keelie' I'm like seriously!

I totally agree, when someone messes up my name in an email I am instantly put off by it. I clearly sign my name Kimberly or Kimmy with everything I send & I have been returned with “Hi Katie!” or “Hello Karen” It truly makes me not want to work with them, it may sound petty but getting your client or possible client’s name right should be a big concern i’d think.

I completely agree! Majority vendor emails I get say “Casey” such a turn off! They clearly just take a quick glance at my name without really looking.

Oh, I agree completely. I've had vendors ignore my budget, my needs, my dates... Also, we created a wedding email with both our names, that we both have access to... we make a point to sign it, so the recipient knows who is emailing.
Can I tell you how often someone replies to the email and just assumes it's FH, not me? Even though I made a point of leaving my name?

I'd be very annoyed too. It's unprofessional in any field but one that handles clients is super embarrassing

Yup I can totally relate...with our venue manager. She got my name down but with FH oh my Lord. His name is Michael and each time we spoke about meeting or something via email/text I'd say this is "Stephanie & Michael" she'd call him some other name! Right before our last meeting last week she called him Emmanuel, she's called him Miguel and I don't recall the other name. I responded very Stern and she said "sorry I should've checked your folder like I told myself to before sending the message but I forgot to".... I was like really!!!?

I have this problem in general, not just with vendors. I get a lot of Wendys and even my middle name, but that's NOT how I signed my email. My last name is Spanish and is spelled with an 'e' but a lot of people spell it the latin way with an 'a' SUPER annoying because they think I'M WRONG. I've been pleasantly surprised with vendors though! Only one has gotten my name wrong, and they quoted me too high anyway, so I struck them off the list.

Wow that’s really unprofessional when you’ve already hired them and they admit to not checking your file, I don’t know how hard it is to look at the last email in the thread and see what you wrote jeesh
