I need advice! Self-conscious about shoulders

Kimberly, on March 19, 2016 at 7:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I got my dress quite a while ago and now Im starting to really think of how I want my hair and accessories to look. I love my dress, and the details (which I will add in the 1st comment) and this picture doesnt do it justice. It definitely needs to be taken in and Im going to wear something underneath to make it more princess. My main concern is my shoulders...

I've always been self conscious of my shoulders which makes me want to wear my hair down to cover them more, but my hair is very thin and wont be long enough by the day of to really get the look I want. What are your thoughts? Do you think I'd look ok with an updo? I feel like my shoulders might just be too broad for it.

Also, necklace, yay or nay? The dress top already has some details and I dont want to take away from it, but I dont know if I'll feel naked without a necklace.

I feel the same way about my shoulders, but everyone else says they don't see it. I think you look beautiful in your dress. Personally I'd go with an updo, your hair covers a lot of the details of the top.

Necklace- maybe something very simple. Thin gold chain with a small pendant in your color(s)?

Also, if you feel more comfortable with your hair down then do that.

They look fine! I don't see anything wrong. Just role them back as if you're make circles with your shoulders. Do this right before walking down the aisle.

I have the same issue with my shoulders, but I think yours look fine! For your hair, you can wear it up or down. Gorgeous either way! :-)

I don't see any issues with your shoulders! The dress looks gorgeous on you.

If you decide you want your hair down and it won't quite be long enough, you can get great quality clip in extensions from sally's or other online stores. Just make sure to get them blended (trimmed) by a professional hair stylist and do a trial with them in before the wedding.

Your whole look is beautiful. I would go with a simple pendant necklace to finish the look.

As far a broad shoulders, years of swimming did that to me and embrace the fact you have a strong presence! By standing straight with good posture, that ball gown will look radiant on your frame!

Your shoulders look perfectly fine to me! But just do whatever you're comfortable with.

Would extensions be an option? I love your hair down. And especially if you think you will be most comfortable that way, then I would go hair down. I also think your hair looks great at the length its at with your dress.

You should wear your hair however you like your hair best. But that means your hair, not your shoulders. If you think you'd prefer an updo, do it; your shoulders are just fine. If you'd prefer your hair down, wear it down and either get extensions or own the current length. But ignore your shoulders; they're just hanging out facilitating hugs by allowing your arms their mobility.

So, we have the same dress! I fell in love with it December of 2014 and knew it was the one! It's so beautiful!

I have broad shoulders too. I originally imagined myself in a full sleeves dress... Not the ting to wear with the shoulders. I plan on wearing my hair down because I don't like how I look with my hair up. The only time it's up is if I'm working out or cleaning.

As for jewelry I think a simple necklace would be nice. I'm doing larger earrings for sure and wearing a ring that was my grandmothers on my right hand. I may opt out of a necklace since my hair will be down.

    You look beautiful!

Same always thought I had super broad shoulders and got a strapless dress. I have decided that I am going to own it that day. I love my dress and am not going to cover it up for anything. Plus I have been doing shoulder/arm exercises to boost my confidence. Smiley smile
