I need advice on the Father-daughter song!

TheLuckiest, on May 15, 2013 at 12:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hi ladies!

I have always loved the lyrics to Bob Carlisle's song "Butterfly Kisses," but I don't want country music at our wedding, and the soft-rock version is too, well, 90s. I heard Westlife's version, but they sound prepubescent.

I meet with my DJ next week, and I want to go into that meeting ready.

Does anyone know of a more grown-up version of Butterfly Kisses? Our dinner music is a lot of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, etc. Our first dance song is "Under a Blanket of Blue," by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald, and I'd like a very classic style of music for my dance with Dad, too. I liked Michael Buble's "Daddy's Little Girl," but it's not a good dancing song. I tried WW's database, but very few of the songs listed are actually appropriate for a wedding dance with Dad. Thanks, gals!

I have 2 olders sisters who danced to "Butterfly Kisses" with our dad (married in 1997 and 1999). It's not my first choice but as the last daughter to get married, why break tradition? I'd also love to hear another variation of that song so I hope someone can help us!

@Rick R...this basically confirmed what I was afraid of...we all do the same songs.

@Kim...good luck finding it! If I find it I'll repost. I just facebooked my old voice teacher to see if she knows of anything. Back in '97 and '99 the song would have been great. 15 years later, it's a little dated! Eeek.
