i may postpone my wedding, but what about my dress?

Hi all. My wedding is this October and while I have made no plans to postpone yet I’m still thinking of back up plans. My fiance and I have agreed that if we do have to postpone the the reception to 2021 we still want to get married in the courthouse on our original date. Now my question is, should I wear the dress I already have to both the ceremony and reception which would be months apart? Should I get a different dress for the ceremony and then wear “the dress” for our reception?

I guess that would apply to getting my makeup professionally done too. I hope to have our official photos taken the day of the reception to save time so maybe I can save the professional makeup for that day too? Thanks in advance!

I would personally wear the dress multiple times if i had the chance to! wedding gowns are that type of thing where it's a one day only and so if i had the chances to make use of it more than just for one day -- i would!

This is what we wore to our ceremony on our original wedding day. It was stuff we already had, but we wanted to save our wedding day stuff for the wedding.

That said, wear your dress if you want! I’m with the previous poster - wear it a few times if you can! My dress was only $179 so wearing it the one time doesn’t hurt my feelings.

I don't think you can go wrong with either option. I personally would wear my dress twice if I could. However, the alterations department closed March 20th and just opened this week. So even if my state did open, I still wouldn't have a dress for June. So I'm wearing a simple ivory dress that I might wear again to leave the reception in September.

Wear the dress! gives u an excuse to wear it more than once, an opportunity most will never get!

Thank you all! It does make sense. You usually only get to wear your dress once so it seems like the best way to make lemonade out of lemons!
