I love balloons

chloe, on September 28, 2011 at 10:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 40

Check out this balloon inspiration! I feel like it would be totally cheaper than flowers. And if done correctly would look awesome! I hope I can pull off a lot of balloon decor!

    Lol Celia... "they're like.....balloons...." Can't stop laughing...

Okay, I personally LOVE IT, but not for a wedding! And engagement, or a party yes, OR if you're going for an informal approach, it'd be nice for a wedding, just not a formal wedding.

Balllons can get expensive! Especially LOTS of them. Some can be cute... but I wouldn't do it because it still screams 80s prom to me.

Okay, I have to edit my own post. I love big giant white balloons that fill the top of a tent. With long ribbon tails; they really can soften the industrial look of a tent.

    But they're still......like balloons....

A friend of mind did something similar for her own wedding, 16 years ago. She had all the balloons on the ceiling above the dance floor with the long ribbons hanging down (as Celia described). I can tell you that even 16 years ago that was over $300 to do.

Also, I think that if you do colored balloons it tends to look like a sweet 16 party. If you really want to do it. Stick with one color or just white.

I personally don't like the balloon idea, but my friend actually had balloons as centerpieces for her wedding last year, not my taste but they did look pretty good though and she sure did save a lot.

I think the picture you posted is very pretty. But I don't think balloons at a wedding are a good idea. I guess it depends where/how you use them but I'd be worried about them popping all afternoon/night.

They get stuck everywhere rafters, trees, etc....if you have a cleaning fee you may have to pay for removal. And if you have any children (and even adults) they will want to stomp on ...pop them ......and give the grandparents and babies quite the shock! I agree they look good in magazines but real life....not so much.

Helium is gonna be pricey! You'l have to rent and pay for a whole tank to take to your location. I doubt it's safe (or a good idea at all) to get them filled instore, then transport them to your venue.

When I see ballons at a wedding, I think birthday party.

It could look nice depending on how you did it... but that would be hard to clean up! The balloons on the ceiling could look really awful like in the one picture haha.

You can get really good deals on flowers depending on what type you get, if they are silk, etc. I can get a discount if I use the one vendor because they are providing the center pieces that come with the reception.

If you actually did have balloons on the ground, wouldn't they just keep popping all night?

HA! I burst out laughing and woke up the cat when I read Celia's post!

To get the effect I'm sure you would be going for, it will NOT be cheaper than flowers. There would need to be a ton of balloons for it not to look cheap.

I totally love balloons too!!! I did that for our birthday last year and the cats loved it. Except like someone said they popped and it scared people including me. And sometimes they would pop on their own for no reason.

I totally want this for my wedding but it won't fit anywhere. (And it's a bit tacky)

A friend had balloons at my shower, just a few tied to my chair and random ones throughout the room. She bought the balloons herself at wholesale prices (her mom owns a store that could order them that way) and paid for the helium only and paid almost $80. And that's just the helium, not the balloons.

So no, its not cheaper. And I don't like the idea in general.

Balloons put you in a certain mental space and while that doesn't ideally scream wedding they are very playful, youthful and lots of fun! I am sorry people are being so hard on your idea...Smiley smile

Creativity is not common nor predicable!

I think its GREAT for a STD or E Pic... that's where it would be super cute. Im not a fan of balloons at weddings.. it does come across a tad bit..... Prom-ish or sweet 16-ish. you EXPECT it at those places... but a wedding nah. THe pic above is pretty, but you'd gotta be able to get it perfect and that to me... is too much work for balloons, lol

I like the last pic. I'm thinking of using those size balloons for my e pics but not for my wedding. Let us know how it turns out!

I don't think people giving honest opinions on the idea is "being hard" on her idea.. We don't say things to be mean, we say things to be helpful. My main point was that its not always cheaper, helium is expensive. So that in and of itself is a false statement.
