i look fat on my wedding dress

Gladys, on July 16, 2019 at 11:03 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19
This is my second fitting after they altered the torso part of the gown. I look and feel fat in it. The seamstress said that the back is too low and see-through to put a support corset on it, now, I’m miserable and don’t know what to do. 😭 Help me! Any suggestion will help . Is there a waist to at least define my waist so my torso won’t look and feel heavy? I’m working hard at the gym to tone my arms and waist! My wedding is next month! 😭

Your torso doesn't look heavy at all to me! You look gorgeous in your dress.

We all have things about our bodies that we don't like, or wish we could change. But I'm telling you, you look really beautiful in that dress, and NOT fat at all.

If you want to define your waist a bit more, you could try a blingy belt. But I think that dress doesn't really need it. You look amazing!

You look beautiful oh my gosh I have no clue what you're talking about because all I see is a beautiful bride Smiley smile we have insecurities and sometimes it's hard for us to be able to realize our worth and we can be nitpicky about ourselves. But trust me when I say, you're beautiful Smiley smile

You look amazing! Sometimes trying to time and makes them bulkier so you might just be strong. I think if you're really worried to remember a veil or a necklace might bring the eyeline up above your chest.

You look absolutely beautiful in that dress, and the dress is gorgeous as well. I don’t see any problems.

You look beautiful and I don't see the issues you are describing. If you are feeling really down about it, what about adding a thin belt around your waist to define it? The dress definitely doesn't "need" it... but if it will make you feel more defined then go for it !

I don't see it as much as you do either but it's probably nerves. My question is what underwear are you wearing under your gown. You might want something with a slightly higher tighter waist if that's what your saying looks off to you.

You definitely don't look fat at all. If you feel fat in the dress it could be that it's just more tight/structured than you're used to. At my alterations appointment I said my dress felt tight (which made me feel fat because I have gained a couple of pounds lately) but the alterations lady was literally shoving her hand down the back of my dress being like, "I can do this, it's not too tight." I'm just not used to wearing something with boning like that so my brain interprets that as tight.

You look great!! You don't look big at all! If you really want to feel better about yourself on your wedding day, you could always wear shapewear, though.

I wish I had your arms! You look beautiful in the dress. I think when everything comes together on your big day, you'll feel more confident. There's something about bridal shops that make brides feel...strange. Not that you need it, but there are hip shapers that can give you the illusion of bigger hips and therefore a thinner, more defined waist. They typically hit below the belly, so your dress may conceal it. But think you look great, as is. Smiley winking

Thank you for all the words of encouragement!
I’m wearing a normal undergarment shorts, maybe you guys are right. I’ll look on some Shapewear and belts if that will make me feel better.. I’ll make sure to bring the shapewear and/or belt at the final fitting.. I hope I will feel better next time!

I think you look fantastic!! I second all the recommendations for a high waisted shapewear type under garment. A lot of times that makes me FEEL more pulled in, and it definitely helps smooth anything out under the gown. I just picked a high waisted brief that don’t dig into my hips and make a funny line.. but you really do look beautiful!!

You look gorgeous! Try a blingy belt or sash if you want to define your waist more or have the seamstress let your dress out if you're still uncomfortable.

You look beautiful and your dress looks stunning. I love the train on your dress, I don’t think you look fat at all. I think your just being self conscious, and I get it I feel like this at times. I also think that some of us might feel like that because of the fabrics of the dresses, but you lol perfect!
