i just can’t picture it

Daniela, on May 10, 2018 at 3:02 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 17
Is anyone else having a hard time making decisions regarding the reception decor? I have a ton of ideas but I just can’t picture them in my head how it will all come together which means I just keep putting it off.

too bad I can’t draw well enough to illustrate my ideas lol.

I am! I'm planning a day where I put together what I'm envisioning and taking pictures to see what I like best.

I did that with my centerpieces except on a smaller round table that I already have at home. It helped me realized it needed something more.

I have tons of stuff saved to Pinterest boards and screenshots on my phone. I think I’m gonna go through and grab my favorites and delete the rest and try to start with that.

Yes I can relate, I wish all my vendors can give me a preview, I am the type of person that needs to see it in advance just in case it needs to be changed. I changed my table cloths twice and I think I want to change it again. I need a visual asap haha! >_<

That’s what I am afraid of wanting to change stuff, especially when I finally get to see it all together and it’s way to late.

What I'm going to do is ask my linens vendor for a sample of the cloth I chose to keep and I will email my florist to see if I can buy or see a sample of our arrangements, It doesn't hurt to ask, I assume many brides before us had this same issue.

My mom said this to me and I will pass it on to you

" Once you and your husband step into the reception everyone would be looking at you not at the cloths of napkins you were obsessing about" haha

    Good Luck!

I can totally relate, to the point where when FSIL (interior decorator) asked if she could design the centerpieces and tables-capes, I didn't even hesitate. I don't care what she does to be honest with you. I never remember any of the centerpieces or really any of the decor from any weddings I have been to.

I printed off 10 pictures from Pinterest, and decided that was the overall style I was going for. One had a bouquet, one was table decor, one was aisle decor, and a few others mixed in there. It's too hard having 20+ pictures of decor but with 10 I was able to see what matched and went together.

Yes! I’m such an indecisive person! Sometimes I think I’ve made a decision and then a few weeks go by and I want to change it lol.

I initially had a dififcult time with the décor, but we've decided to keep it simple, so it's easier to visualize it now.

My venue pretty much provides everything in basic colors and will be pre decorated for Christmas in silver and white. I’m having a hard time deciding where to add my colors (maroon, blush, and navy). So many ideas no ability to visualizeXD

I’m having the same trouble! I picked out things on Pinterest and then found out I don’t have the money to make my reception space look like the pictures. Plus my wedding location is about 3 hours driving time from where I live, so that makes it even harder to visualize! I just figure I will do my best and let the rest go.

Hi Daniela! I would recommend engaging in extensive research of other weddings to gather ideas and gain inspiration towards your decor! Check out WeddingWire's Real Weddings Archives to view what others have done. This will provide a realistic view of what approach you can take; however, the choice is up to you. There isn't a right or wrong way to go about it, which is why you could incorporate elements of your personality into the decor. For instance, if you love hearts, then try incorporating hearts, or if you desire a more elegant look, then try leaning towards more shimmer, candles, and so forth. Have you decided on your color combination? You can also use our Color Palette Generator to assist with that. Do you have a potential theme in mind? Please inform me if you need any additional help!

    HI Daniela

Some great inspiration can come from getting a good visual of the look you are going for. Here is a link to some WeddingWire articles on the topic.

I would put your ideas together and set them up how you think they should look. I did that and also had a trial at the reception venue and took photos of exactly how I liked it best. It also made it easier for the actual setup of the reception as well.

Oh my gosh, I'm having a hard time too. I've been going so back and forth with what I want and think would look good. I have to keep reminding myself that not everything has to be so matching or has to "fit" the venue completely. At the end of the day, it all come together.
