I have selected my Procession song. What's yours?

tina, on January 13, 2015 at 3:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 65

I know it is popular but when I heard this song a couple months ago, I couldn't believe how well it spoke to him from my heart. A Thousand Years, it's a secret to him and on that day, the best man will give him ear buds just as I appear, so he can really hear the words spoken just for him, (it's outside) We were high school friends that could have been more but in our day, interracial couples were rare and being friends seemed the best we could do. But he never left my heart and 20 years later we reunited, became a family and are now making it legal in the eyes of the law, God already knew our hearts as I know he played a huge role in joining our hearts forever. So, what and why that song for you?

I've wanted to use A Thousand Years for a long time, but lately I've seen that tons of people are choosing that song (including one of my friends who will be at the wedding!) It's making me a little sad that people might be like "Ugh, this song again?" but at this point I don't think I'm going to change it. Seems kind of silly to change my processional song just because it's popular!

Anyway, this is what we picked:

Parents/grandparents: Instrumental version of Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up"

Wedding party: The Piano Guys version of "Just the Way You Are"

Me: The Piano Guys version of "A Thousand Years"

Processional: Bluegrass cover of Tupelo Honey.

Bridal Entrance: Howard Alden's acoustic guitar arrangement of Parlez-Moi D'amour.

    Not that I'm being specific.

I really want to use A Thousand Years from my bridal entrance but I'm still debating because the first time FH heard it was when we were in line at Home Depot, and I'm like "omggg I loveee this song" and this hillbilly standing behind us shouted "AINT THIS THE SONG FROM TWILIGHT"...and that's not what I want FH to remember as I walk down the aisle....

I used "Live to Love" by Paul Cardall - since it was a Catholic ceremony, I wasn't able to use any words. The wedding party and parents walked in to the beginning and once it got to the dramatic part of the song, I walked out. It. Was. Perfect. Smiley smile

@Mrs. MoralestoBE - I seriously laughed out loud at that!

I'm not sure what we are using just yet. A thousand years is one of my top songs as well. And I could care less how "popular" it is or what movie it's from. And i'm going to say the one thing people who aren't fans of the movies say...I was a fan and knew that song before it was on the movie. LOL.

I'm really loving this thread though I have you tubed a lot of beautiful songs I never heard of. So thank you ladies. I am no in love with: I choose you - The Piano Tribute Players thank you @Mallori & Piano guys - begin again @Kristen! Woohoo new songs added to my list of possibilities!

Loving all of this. I really want to use Sweetest Day by Control Freq but not sure where.

Also, there was another group that does covers, it had guys and a female in the group but I can't remember the name of the group.
