i don't love my dress.

I went into dress shopping with a specific vision in mind... I wanted a plunging neckline with spaghetti straps or off the shoulder with a soft A-line or sheath/column siloughette and it had to fit our fairytale theme. I did get the soft A-line in French tulle (super soft). However, I didn't get the top I really wanted. I tried on a total of 24 dresses between 3 stores. Nothing was right. Either the top wasn't right or the bottom wasn't, or the dress was horribly itchy everywhere and I couldn't stand wearing it with my sensitive skin.

I ended up going with dress number 20. It's very comfortable, has an open back with beaded straps on the sides and it has a plunging keyhole in the bodice that goes from about mid chest down to just above the belly button. The keyhole was a compromise for the plunging neckline. The bodice is a high neck/halter style. I think the best way I can describe it would be that it's all illusion for the bodice with lace overlay and then it has built in cups. The top part of the bodice is the illusion gathered to meet at the neckline with matching beading for the neckline. And the whole top has tiny sequins throughout. I'll add some pictures. Although I think the dress is very pretty, it just doesn't feel like me. I bought it because nothing in my budget was working for me, but this dress was so comfortable and I loved the bottom and the open back. I just don't love the very top of the bodice because I feel so covered up. Not that I wear a lot of revealing clothing, but I don't wear halter tops or high neck shirts, so it just doesn't quite feel like "me". But my mom and sister who went dress shopping insisted it was my dress and I sent pictures to my fiancés aunts that I'm close with and they loved it, so did my bridesmaids.
I'm not worried about my fiancé liking the dress. I think he will love it. I could walk down the aisle in just about anything and I'm sure he would think I looked great. I'm worried I won't feel confident wearing it on my wedding day. I tried my dress on at home and cried in it because I felt so insecure in it that my mom came over to make me feel better.
I am having a couple alterations done. My seamstress already made the top a bit more fitted on the sides of the bust which made a huge difference! But I also asked her if she could bring the cups up just a tiny bit because they sit too low for where my boobs fall. Plus I think raising the cups will make the torso area look a little longer and more flattering since I have a short torso. My next fitting is in February so we will see if that helps. The low cups were making me feel like I had slighyly sagging boobs since mine aren't as big as the dress has room for, so I hope moving them up boosts my confidence! Here are some pictures from before any alterations were done. Please ignore any clutter in the background.cfb_1452301.jpg

I think your dress is absolutely beautiful and it looks fantastic on you! But if you don't love it, don't settle! This is your day, and you should feel confident and love the dress you're wearing. I only tried on 5 dresses and found the one. Sometimes I wish I would have broadened the type of dresses I was trying on to see if I could have found something else, but I really do love my dress. I just have that "what if" feeling. I understand how you feel! Maybe you'll come to love it with different alterations, but regardless I think you should feel confident and love the dress you're wearing on your wedding day!

    Hi Hannah!!!

I don't think she would be able to. The skirt of the dress already has sequence in it that makes it sparkle and is a tulle fabric. Hey its okay! I'm not worried about it. I have learned in my life nothing goes according to plan and I have been pregnant back to back since the beginning of wedding planning! Life just happens! I hope this year we don't have to move it because of COVID, my venue is now not booking because of the sudden spike and wants to wait until July to see where we are at. This is indeed incredibly frustrating. Smiley sad

But, if it's meant to be this year, it will be. If not, we get married next year. My wedding date as it stands is Thursday October 7, 2021. We are getting married on our ten year anniversary.

I am going to get my dream dress. My mom is a little disappointed I am not wearing the one I picked out before hand but she understands. I talked to my fiance and he's okay with me spending the money to get what I want. My sister in law tells me all the time to do something for myself every once and a while.

When is your wedding? Have you gotten a lot done? I think the most stuff I have gotten done is my decore, LOL!

Hi Ally, thank you!! Yes! That's exactly it! I keep having that "what if there was something better out there" but there will always be a better dress I'm realizing. Thanks for understanding! Wow! Only 5 dresses, that's awesome! What style did you go with? I'm so glad you love your dress! I'm sure you picked the right one! 😊

Melanie- Congrats on being blessed with your babies!! That is so true, life doesn't often go according to plan! I hope covid is a lot better by then so you can get married this year and not have to change your date again!! That's wonderful that you are able to get the dress you really want!! I'm so happy for you! Getting married on your 10 year anniversary will be so cute!! Our date is August 28, 2021. We are prepared to downsize our guest list if covid isn't better by then, but I think it will be with the vaccine! We will see as we get closer to our date though to make the decision on uninviting people. Our venue can hold 225 and we have about 170 with everyone including vendors, but we can bring it down to immediate family only if we have to. I actually got a LOT done right away. Basically all that's left to do is food and cake tastings, flowers, and some of the smaller things. We know what we're doing for decor for the most part, but haven't bought anything yet. I hope your planning goes smoothly and hopefully you can keep your date!

First of all I think your dress is absolutely gorgeous!!! If I were you... I would wear a sticker bra to raise my boobs and to give me cleavage.
Something like this? Doesn't hurt to try.
Beautiful dress though!!! 💗i don't love my dress. 1

Omg his dress looks absolutely STUNNING on you!!!! I love the design in the front so much and it looks super comfortable. I understand not feeling confident in a dress so I would definitely give it deeper thought but.....if you can find ways to alter it to your comfort that would be awesome cuz you look uh-freaking-mazingg!!

Hi Sonia, yes, I did try a sticky bra like that but with the keyhole, it shows the connecting part. My seamstress suggested using some breast tape instead so I need to get some of that and hopefully it will do the trick.

Margouettha, thank you so much! You're so sweet! Maybe for my next fitting I'll do my hair and makeup close to how it will be for the wedding (I'm not super amazing with either lol but good enough). And my seamstress will let me have some space to take my mask off for a few minutes to take pictures. It just sucks that her lighting is so dark lol. Maybe that with the alterations she is working on will make it all feel better.

I think its a beautiful dress. I love the top. I can relate to not loving your dress and its such a crappy feeling. I pick up my dress in 2 weeks and I'm so scared because I don't think I like it anymore. But maybe alterations will change the way you feel about it. Good luck!
