Hello Smiley smile

Wondering if anyone has had an experience like this? First off, I have suffered from dress regret but I always go back to loving my original. I've had my dress for 2 yrs (long story) and I'm marrying into a very opinionated Irish family that hates it... it's also PMS time.

So I went to my first fitting and as she was pinning, I started balling!! Like had-to-stop-because-of-how-hard-I-was-crying. It didn't help that I was fighting for mirror space with a girl in a GORGEOUS $5k pnina gown, but all of a sudden, i didn't feel pretty or sexy in my dress - i felt "frumpy" and blah...

I don't know if it is the family comments about hating it getting in my head, the stress of having it for 2 yrs, the pressure of the wedding coming up so soon? having a total meltdown right now :/ I think it finally hit me that i'm getting married and of course i'm excited.. but it was really overwhelming!

I feel terrible that i feel so terrible.. is this normal at all? ugh...

Wow. Looking at your pictures, I don't see why your family is saying it doesn't look good. I'm a plus-sized girl and had a similar experience when trying on dresses and would have loved to be as pretty as you are in yours. Don't feel down!

Besides, only two people's opinion matter at your wedding: yours and your FH's. And to quote my FH when I broached the subject of feeling the need to be "pretty" on my wedding day, he said "it doesn't matter what you're wearing. What matters is that it's you. You're the person I chose to spend my life with and you'll always be beautiful to me." (He can be kinda sappy but I bet that's how your FH feels too)

Wow... you look so gorgeous in your beautiful dress! You should feel proud Smiley smile I'm sorry that your family's negative comments are making you feel that way. It's your day and the dress you chose is all your decision. Not anybody else's. It's unfortunate that people feel the need to give unwanted advice. Especially when nobody asks!! Go have a girl's night out and be happy that you chose that dress!

Thank you for all of the compliments! I just saw little miss perfect dress with her cute curves and awesome strapless dress and mine is not at all a flattering shape. I watch way too much TLC too... hopefully it will be better once its altered. It not just family comments.. I can figure out why I cried yesterday! Its supposed to be happy but I am still feelig this huge disappointment. I think you are all right though... pms and stress cloudong my judgement.. and im not going to be a size 2 by the time the wedding comes. this dress definitely hides some of the lumps and frumps which I probably better. I just hope the shape it gives me is better when its fitted!

Umm you look HOT in that dress! And it's not even altered yet! Girl, you are going to be JUST fine. It's just hormones and stress. You have NOTHING to worry about! As others have said, you're going to radiate, and be smiling ear to ear, and freaking out on the inside, and you're going to have one of the best days of your life. A lot of women would LOVE to fit in a dress like you do. A 5k dress doesn't make a woman look beautiful. I've seen a lot of rich ugly women. You'll knock his socks off Smiley smile

Family stress is one of the worst type of stress, I think we all can agree to that. Add PMS on top of that and it's even harder. That's very sweet of your FH to look after you like that he sounds like a real sweetheart. I'm sure he'll love it.

Really you look amazing in the dress. I'm having this feeling and I am no where as slim as you... I'm having the back fat issues. Trying to lose 5-10 so maybe just maybe the dress will fit better. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just relax. Your going to look gorgeous on your day.

Your dress is gorgeous! Don't let anyone tell you what you should wear. Its your day, not theirs. I know its tough to hear rude comments and still feel confident about your dress because I've had a similar situation. But several years from now when you look back on the pics, you will think how awesome you looked in your dress and hopefully have almost forgotten about their comments. If it makes you feel better, the very first thing my FSIL suggested when I got engaged was to get a used dress because its not worth the money. haha! Don't get me wrong, theres nothing wrong with a used dress at all, but it certainly wasn't what I had hoped to hear after waiting 4 years for an engagement ring Smiley smile PS your boobs do not look saggy, and if you're worried about bumps from panty lines and such, spanx or hose usually smooth that out. Don't let anyone talk you out of wearing your amazing gown!

After seeing your pictures the dress is gorgeous and you look fantastic in it. Don't let any family tell you otherwise and like the girls have said even if you wear a brown paper bag your FH will love it on you. Stop beating yourself up because we all do it. Keep your head up!

I have to comment on this- I had a very, very similar experience to you. I *loved* my dress when I tried it on in the store, the sample fit perfectly, hugged in all the right places, and I felt so good in it.

When the dress that I had ordered was finally in the store, I booked a time to go and try it on. It was during an incredibly busy time with work (I travel for work), volunteer events that I was chairing, moving house, and trying to fit in wedding planning. I was so stressed and so tired when I went to try it on.

I put on the dress, and it didn't hug in all the right places and I felt frumpy in it. I felt so dejected, after leaving the store I went to my car and cried.

Fast-forward to the wedding- I felt SO good in my dress and if I were to go dress shopping again, I would still choose the same dress. Alternations make a HUGE difference.

Give yourself permission to feel frustrated, unsure, etc- it sounds like it's a hectic time for you too. Go in for your fittings knowing that right now it is a dress, and once it has been altered, it will become your dress.

Once you see the alterations I hope that you fall in love with the dress all over again!

Thank you ladies, so incredibly much!!! FH and I decided to keep all wedding planning on the back burner this weekend and upcoming week. I think I finally cracked under the pressure of everything. thank you all for sharing the experiences and compliments too! it is really helping Smiley smile im going to see how it goes at my next fitting before I freak out anymore about it!! a good nights sleep helped too so that makes me think it was more emotional breakdown more than anything else... fingers crossed!!

What's normal -- especially for women -- is the comparison torture. You're looking at her gown, she's looking at your gown, and you're both seeing things you like better about the other girl's figure and gown. I guarantee that with your figure in that dress, she was checking you out. If that's the dress without alterations, I can only imagine what it will look like when it's finished. The back is amazing. The front is beautiful. Plus, you've got the body to pull it off. Look at those pictures again if you doubt it.
