I think I will be posting like 3 threads a day...lol. I have a lot to say. So...I have these 3 close friends that have always assumed that they would be my bridesmaids even before I got officially engaged. I used to want about 6 bridesmaids, but I changed my mind recently. Now, I only want 4, not including the MOH. My sister as my MOH, and my other sis and 2 cousins as BM. I decided to keep in the family to have less stress. Last night my friends were so excited about my engagement and were asking me, "So who else will be bridesmaids besides us?" And I'm thinking like...uhh I don't even want you to be my bridesmaids anymore. We have been friends for about 11 years, so is it wrong to take that moment away from them? lol. I am the first out of all my friends to get engaged....

What do you think?

I think you were already planning the wedding before you got the ring, so did you already ask them? If you did and are now gonna change your mind about that then I think it will create an issue. Make sure whatever you do you explain it to them and they understand they still mean a lot to you and you want them there on your day but have just decided to keep the bridal party to close family.

As long as you have not asked them before changing your mind they'll be hurt but get over it ...

I never asked them, really. They just assumed that they would be bridesmaids. Tach123, you're right. I'll make sure that they understand that they mean a lot to me! My FH also thinks it's best that they don't be my BMs.

MRS MAK I HAVE A TOTAL OF 12 BM AND EVERYONE HAVE THEIR DRESSES AND SHOES. IT'S NOT THAT DIFFICULT WHEN YOU SCHEDULE DRESS REHERSAL AND IF THEY DON'T SHOW UP PUT THEM OUT. YOU SEE IT WAS MY OWN FAMILY THAT DIDN'T DO AS I ASKED OF THEM.I HAVE ONE SISTER IN AND NO WOMEN COUSIN AND ONE CUZ TOOK IT UPON HERSELF TO GO 4 DAYS LATER AND OF COURSE I WOULDN'T LET THE LADY ORDER HER DRESS. NOW DON'T LET THOSE SAME 3 GIRLS YOU DON'T WANT HAVE TO RESCUE YOU LATER AND THEN THEY SAY NO WAY!THEN YOU'RE STUCK. I WOULD LEAVE THEM IN AND IF YOU'RE HAVING FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS TELL THEM BECAUSE THEY MAY HELP YOU.SOUNDS LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A MINUTE AND IF SOMEONE HAS TO ACTUALLY DROP FOR SOME UNFORSEEN REASON YOU STILL HAVE THE REST.I UNDERSTAND IF YOU'RE NOT FINANCIALLY ABLE.I WOULDN'T TELL THEM NOTHING BUT FALL IN LINE AND HELP ME PREPARE.NOW ITS YOUR DAY YOUR WAY BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THEY WANT TO SHARE IT WITH THEIR GINUINE BUDDY. CHERISH THAT CAUSE THE FAMILY AIN'T GOING NOWHERE. BE BLESSED

I would wait a few weeks before saying anything, but that's just me. If you've changed your mind already, I might give it some time to make sure your head is clear when you make the final decision.

But I had a childhood best friend who always said we'd be each other MOHs and she hasnt even asked to see my ring in person in the 8 months I've been engaged. We were drifting anyway, so she's going to have to get over it Smiley winking

What's wrong with having all of them be your bridesmaids? Your going to have drama with your family as well. I only have a maid of honor, I have 4 sisters as well but they are not in the wedding, but I think I have gone all bridezilla on them more then I have on my maid of honor. lol.

Just asking- why do you NOT want them as BM's? Aside form having a few more extra bodies will it really effect your enjoyment of the day? If I were them I'd be hurt. I would get over it, but I would maybe re-evaluate the friendship. I would get the impression you don't care about the friendship as I do, if were in their shoes. It is your wedding, do what you wish, but just because your wedding doesn't mean there may not be consequences for your choices.
