Super April 2018

I can't find the perfect venue!! :(

HappilyEverAfter329, on November 21, 2016 at 9:42 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

Hey everyone!!

My and FH been searching everywhere for the right venue, but we just can't seem to find "the one"! I really like the industrial look and we both agree that we want something different than a typical hotel or country club wedding. We live in New Jersey, but are willing to travel to PA or NY. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great!! By the way we have a pretty small wedding only around 70 people which seems to also be a problem with a lot of venues.

FH and I also absolutely wanted something different. We were not interested in a ballroom type wedding and we're only having 35 people. If you're willing to go to Delaware, this is where we're getting married http://www.hagley.org/about-us/rentals/weddings-hagley . The entire museum is open for pictures. The Soda House or Library are both beautiful inside. And they have a few different ceremony choices. I also love the coordinator, she's been just incredible with information and communication. We went there, we saw it, we fell in love.

It's not industrial, but it's definitely not typical. The buildings there are from the 1800s.

Call shadowbrook at shrewsbury nj. That's where I'm having mine. When I went there they were having a wedding with 100 ppl. They work really well with people.

I'm getting a bit discouraged too. Although my scheduled wedding date is about a year out, every place I've called within my area is booked through 2017 and some for the first 6 months of 2018!

My post of venues for intimate weddings got flagged. If you'd like it, please message me.

For the record? Not an advertisement since I have no interest in any of these venues, but they are simply places that we've collected over the years. Many of them are listed here.

We looked at a restaurant/bar in Manayunk, PA... the Manayunk Brewing Company. I'm sure there are dozens of other similar bars/restaurants in the Philadelphia area that have the vibe you are looking for!

I'll second one of Celia's recommendation:

    the Mohawk House (yes!)

She recommended it to me but its too small for my guest list (130) but i NEED to go to get my butt there and sample this food but OMG the menu sounds spectacular and the place is absolutely stunning!

Look at the Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen in Morristown. I LOVED this venue it's super unique and gorgeous, but my guest list was too large for it to work. I would also check out Kolo Klub in Hoboken, 14 & Hudson in Piermont, NY, and Battello in Jersey City. I'd also like to second some of Celia's recommendations....we also looked at the Park West Loft in Ridgewood and we thought it was awesome and their menu is fabulous. I've attended events at St. Eve's in Ho Ho Kus and The Brick House in Wyckoff and they are both fantastic!

Jockey Hollow is gorgeous and stylish. Battello is one of my all time faves, but I think their minimum is too high, though in a bridge season, you might be surprised.

We love all the Bear Mountain venues, but again, the minimum might be too high except for the Carousel, which is incredibly cool.

    Jockey Hollow is so beautiful!

I just had my reception at the Madison Hotel in Morristown, our minimum for the ballroom was 125. My co-worker is getting married there next month in the conservatory, and her minimum count is 95 which is still a good amount above your guest count.

I've never been to the Grain House for a wedding but we've had other parties in there, after baptisms I think and we did have Easter dinner there once too (I live 10 mins from there). It's so beautiful and cosy inside, I'm not sure what their minimum is though. I would definitely recommend checking it out though!
