Need more information! What do you like about your shape? Anything you want to accentuate?

I've got pretty wide hips (45 inches, which is about a 1X), but I have a smaller waist, so I'm wearing a dropwaisted A-line gown. Nice and tight around my top so I can show off my waist, and because the dress doesn't get tighter after the hips, it doesn't emphasize how wide they are.

My upper body is smaller. like I can wear a medium sized shirt but I have to wear size 20-22 pants because of my hips and thighs.

^ they have that style in every bridal salon. its is a ballgown skirt. also try A-line (which is supposed to flatter every body type) and add a crinoline slip to make sure it pulls away from the body.

I look kind of rectangular - big boobs, thick waist, big hips. I got an a-line gown with ruching that makes my waist look much slimmer than it is as well as bringing attention away from my hips.

    This is my dress: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Crinkle-Chiffon-Gown-with-Asymmetrical-Draping-9V3540

I'm a pear shape and have always had bigger hips and thighs. I bought a dress that was a-line and really brought eyes to my waist which would be my smallest part (and probably yours too). Definitely think a-line!! I tried on some ballgown types and they just made my hips look even bigger.

I agree with the ladies above: a-lines tend to flatter your figure, especially if you're thicker below the waist. I have a smaller waist with wide hips and thick thighs. I was hating all gowns until I tried on an a-line.

    A-line.

That silhouette flatters pretty much all shapes. Smiley smile

If you go ball gown, don't go super poufy with too many layers. What Jennifer posted is probably the perfect amount of skirting.
