That's what we're using for everything except my bouquet. =] my FH friend owns a ton of flower and landscaping locations and he used them for all his decorations and they were gorgeous! They were very durable and held up in the heat, too. =]

Silk or real? I've used silk in bouquets before and they were gorgeous. If you are hiring a florist to do real flowers I wouldn't worry about it, thy should know what they are doing.

I have a few clients that are florists and they highly advised me against hydrangeas. They need constant water (so good for center pieces) but turn brown quickly when away from a water source.

Thank You All. I will speak to my florist and see what they advise. Always hear both positive and negatives.

I think it's a great idea!! I love the way they easily fill out a vase or bouquet.

I had a friend who had a hydrangea bouquet for her wedding. It looked beautiful and I actually caught the bouquet! ...but it didn't stay long at the wedding and by the time I went home it had wilted. I got to keep the bouquet because the bride and groom left the reception early to catch the flight for their honeymoon. The weather was very humid that day, so I think that may have been a contributing factor that made the hydrangeas wilt so quickly.

My florist advised against it for bouquets, but we had them in our centerpieces.

My bouquet had some. It just added some volume to my bouquet, since I didn't want to have crazy amounts of fancy flowers.

I wanted hydrangeas for the wedding but I read up and found they don't do well in heat or out of water. I live in the desert, so it was an obvious no.

Hydrangeas are gorgeous and full, but they are finicky. They are SUPER thirsty flowers and can wilt very fast. One day recently, one of my coworkers made a bridal bouquet out of them the night before a wedding, and the next morning she already had to replace one or two stems because they'd wilted overnight even while in water in the cooler.

I'd recommend them for centerpieces or other arrangements where they can stay hydrated, and would hesitate to put them in a bouquet. However, if you're set on hydrangeas, try to keep the bouquet in water and cool for as long as possible.

Don't be like me and listen to others.. The flowers were delivered the day before, florist said it would be alright as long as they were kept in. The fridge. We were staying at a hotel , and the hotel fridge was colder than normal refrigeratorsand this is what happened to my flowers. They were supposed to be blue... Not brown

@OP I didn't use them in mine but a friend used it in hers and they lasted awhile. When I was researching florists they all basically weren't consistant on how long the hydrangeas would last so I didn't risk it especially with an outdoor wedding. So I nixed the idea by the time I got to my real florist, @rachel (from this forum).

My friend used them they were beautiful. She started to panic when they were wilted the night before, fully submerged in a bath of ice cold water over night and they perked right back up. I have used that technique a few more times since because I love hydrangeas.

My bouquet is hydrangeas and roses. I never heard about them being so hard to care for. I really want them as my center pieces. And I was planning on doing those the day before our wedding. So sad that I have to find a new flower.

Here are all of ours together. We also used them for centerpieces, but my photographer didn't take pictures of that...
