Husband Lost Wedding Ring - Advice?

Janae, on January 28, 2025 at 8:02 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10

Hi all! It's been awhile since I've posted on here. My lovely husband of 3.5 years lost his wedding ring today on the beach. It was originally a silver band around ~$800. We now have a 4 month old and do not have the money to spend on a new ring for him. Has anyone had this happen? What alternatives would you recommend?

My husband got a cheap ring on Amazon. He's wore it since we got married 5.5 years ago. I want to say he spent like $25 on it. It doesn't need to be fancy.

Do you have insurance on the ring? If not, I would check Amazon or Etsy for a cheaper replacement than a jewelry store. You could also see if anyone in the area has a metal detector that can help you search the area that you lost the ring.

I can't remember about insurance. I don't think so. We bought it at a small jewelry store near where we were living at the time, but we've since moved across the country. Thanks for sharing the ideas! Wish we could search the beach but my husband was on a work trip and had to get back to a meeting after his beach outing. It's gone for good. 😢

For a cheap ring, I’d go with a silicone band (you can get multipacks on Amazon for super cheap). Cheap metal rings can start eroding on your finger and turn it green after some time.

Perhaps a silicone band, fairly inexpensive $20-$40 and comfortable to wear.

Oh bad, I am sorry to hear about the ring! I haven't lost one, but I've heard that some have had success using a temporary silicone ring or a simpler band until they can replace it. I hope it shows up!

You can either buy something inexpensive as a stand in now or wait until you can afford to replace it. I know a number of men who don't wear a ring on a daily basis or at all, either because they are uncomfortable wearing jewelry, they work with their hands, or their own dads never wore one.

I would check out Etsy, eBay or Amazon. Lots of inexpensive, but nice looking rings on there.

My husband just wears one of those rubber rings because he is a welder. They are like $5
