Hungry Bridesmaids - What to feed the BM while getting ready?

Christa, on July 16, 2012 at 3:14 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

I would like to have some nice wine, cheese and crackers. Is this appropriate? Any suggestions?

I did mimosas, a breakfast quiche with potatoes in it (carbs), pastries, and tea.

Edit- I think cheese and crackers may be a bit light? For you it may be different. We started eating around 11, wedding was at 5:30.

I would say it depends on when the ceremony is. Also what is going to be served at your reception. I am planning a ceremony at about 2 so we may have a light brunch together before we have to get everything together to go to the ceremony. Then a cheese and crackers set up would work... Hey thanks for the idea! Smiley smile

YEP. Totally appropriate. The venue had a beautiful chesse and crackers tray for me and my bridesmaids and some Raspberry Champagne. It was Delish!!!

Ceremony is on Thursday. Wedding reception is on Saturday. Hair and Makeup at 11:00 am. Reception starts at 5:00 pm. We are serving prime rib, chicken parmesan and fettucine alfredo for dinner at 6:00 pm.

@ Christa- I would personally want the option for something heavier but I get

hypogylcemic easily and I also eat like a little piglet.

I was ready to eat everything at the cocktail hour.

I love the idea of wine, though (white of course)

We are having a big fruit tray (my favorite), bagels, cheese & crackers and a veggie tray. Our ceremony starts at 3:00 and we will all be up bright and early getting ready, so I want to make sure my girls have enough to snack on Smiley smile We could also order more from the hotel if someone is really hungry (I know I sure won't be able to eat much)!!

I love the idea of fruit and bagels (with the wine, cheese and crackers, of course) We are getting ready at our house and we only live 10 minutes from our venue :-)

I would do something with a little more substance (although I do love wine and cheese). Especially if you are planning on having an open bar. You are all going to want something in your stomachs a little heavier than just some crackers and cheese IMO

We ordered some platters from Vons/Safeway. The sandwich rolls, veggies & fruit. We also got some munchies~ trail mix & chocolates. Iced Tea, & water. Operation hydration… there will be enough wine at the wedding.

My Fh's sorta aunt is a caterer, and she is providing us with Sandwiches and munchies for the day of as part of her gift to us. Not just for us girls, but also putting some in a picnic basket for the GMen to take with when they go fishing that morning out on Lake superior

We are doing my bridal luncheon right before we start getting ready, but we will probably have some fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, and mimosas.

My mom had ordered a tray of the stick pretzels from Philly Pretzel Factory with different dipping sauces. She did tell them no garlic pretzels though Smiley smile We also had a fruit tray. At first all the ladies were eating the fruit and the next thing I know they were demolishing the pretzels. It was just enough. We also had pink champagne.

We have our venue (and the prep-bungalows) for the whole day. . .so we're having everyone show up before noon, bringing in lunch for everyone around 2 (undecided but probably a local favorite. . .and yes, i'm talking real food, not snacks) with the ceremony at 6

CRAP!!! I had not even thought about eating, I only have a MOH and she is staying at the hotel with me the nite before, so I knew we would eat breakfast there, but I had not thought about lunch. Reception is not til 5:00 pm. We would have passed out. I may just do subway sandwiches, nothing greasy or messy, no wine for us, we are getting dressed at my mothers, no alcohol allowed. May I will have a buzz left over from the nite before, since I don't really drink anymore, lol.

My daughter needs to be ready for the photographer by 1:00, so I am doing brunch like items: bagels, different cream cheeses and bagel toppings, a wrap tray, finger sandwiches, muffins and fruit salad. Cate is a chocoholic so I am also doing brownies and her fave choco chips. I was going to do a quiche, or an egg based breakfast casserole, however, we don't want anything that could produce gas or heart burn.
