Humiliated at my wedding

#beautyandthebeard, on October 22, 2019 at 4:51 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 14
My wedding was on October 11th and things went well until the dancing at the reception. I ended up slipping and falling from the tool under my dress and did the splits. I got up and tried to play it off. Some more dancing later I slipped again! This time I decided to take my slip off, my cousin followed me into the bathroom and helped me remove it. A little bit goes by and I slip and fall a third time! This time one of my friends tells me to go to the bathroom that my dress ripped! The seam in the back tore down! I had a small breakdown just not knowing what to do with an hour or so left. While I’m completely shut down my cousin and bridesmaids gave me a pep talk and a friend of mine wrapped some tool around the rip to cover it.

I decided to get back out and have fun because it was my wedding and asked the photographer to just not shoot my back. I’m a clumsy person but brides are always so elegant and beautiful and I felt anything but that!

Now I still can’t let it go. I literally have lost sleep about how stupid I looked! I’m so embarrassed and really am struggling to get past it.

can anyone offer advice to help me let it go?

Haven't had my wedding yet! But my aunt did a vow renew last Christmas and I was a bridesmaid and I slipped at the reception. I'm taking both legs in the air and on my butt on the floor. Every time I tried to get up my shoe would slip on the tulle. So it happens! Some groomsmen helped me up and the night went on and I fell again trying to dance lol. I'm also super clumsy and my family is already expecting me to trip and or fall at mine. As long as your photographer did not catch any pics then you're probably good. Heck even if your photographer did, just joke about it and say "dang I literally just keep falling for you" lol. But I am really sorry this happened to you and hope you get some sleep soon.

I love this idea of kinda making it a cheesy joke 😊. But I agree, things happen and sometimes we just have to forget and move on. I hope you weren’t too badly injured and hopefully you’ll catch up on sleep soon!

The only advice I have on letting is go is just that, let it go! I know it had to be embarrassing, but I promise you that NO ONE is thinking about it as much as you are. We don't magically transform into these "elegant brides" just because it's our wedding day, you're being too hard on yourself Smiley smile We're all a little clumsy sometimes and you were obviously wearing something that was a little different from the usual jeans and tshirt lol

Oh I bruised my tailbone and had to sit on donut pillow for 5 weeks. Can you imagine a 27 year old walking around with a donut pillow? Lol but it's in the past and we joke about it.

My cousin got married about 10 years ago. She changed dresses and got into an inexpensive strapless ball gown. She also had a lot to drink. She fell face first on the dance floor hit her head and exposed her umm girls to everyone at the reception. She just laughed it off. No advice really, just trying to make you feel better and let you know it does happen!

Sorry I don't mean to be this person, but it's "tulle". Reading it with "tool" and thinking of actual tools being wrapped around you cracked me up.
Honestly, I am sorry this happened to you- but I think in time you will 100% laugh it off! As long as you weren't injured.

To make you feel better: my mom was at a wedding and the bride got her period during the first dance- it went right through her dress. I really don't think it can get worse than that!

Congrats on your wedding Smiley smile

Aw sorry to hear your dress ripped but honestly I'm sure you looked nice still. I feel like every wedding dress goes thru the ringer at Weddings. Like mine kept getting stepped on so the bottom was so dirty at the end of the night. Aha.

My father tripped on my sister’s train at the altar. Almost took a heading into the pew. Most people were probably unaware of your slips. You were just having a really good time. Let it go and focus on all the positives.
