Huge Dress, Backyard Wedding, Covid-19

Alexis Hosley, on June 14, 2020 at 11:26 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7

So we originally planned on getting married 06/06/2020 however, before the Virus hit, we made the decision to push it back to 09/26/2020. Now I'm starting to freak out because I keep hearing about a second wave of the Virus "hitting" in the Fall.. And currently our venue is under stricter "rules" than what Ohio's guidelines are.

With that being said, we've been thinking about minimizing our guest list to only immediate family and the wedding party and just having the ceremony and reception in our back yard and stream our ceremony for our extended family and friends.

So now that I explained our thoughts... I have HUGE ballgown that I feel won't look right in our small, intimate, backyard wedding... Is anyone else in these shoes? What are you doing about this? I don't want to not wear my dress that was super expensive and currently having alterations done.

Any suggestions? I'm at a loss right now :/

I would wear it. A lot of brides here get a slimmer more informal dress for an intimate ceremony but honestly if I had the chance to wear my wedding dress multiple times I would Aha

I would have loved to have had my dress for my 6 person backyard wedding. Wear your dress, it will make it that much more special!

Wear it! Nothing is normal right now. Even if it's not what you would've chosen if you were planning a backyard wedding from the beginning, it is was you wanted. You probably chose your dress because it made you happy and excited about getting married; you still deserve to have those feelings.

I'm sure you can have help turning the backyard into a wonderful magical, royal garden to match your dress Smiley smile

Wear it! I hope it takes up the whole yard, haha!

I have a large ballgown that isn't bustled because I was planning on changing into another dress (also a ballgown) for the reception. I'm still going to wear it to my small, six-person garden wedding, and save the bustled one for our party next year. Everyone will just have to get out of the way! 😆
I think wearing it will still make your day special, and I bet the pictures will make you look larger than life (which will look good in photos).

Wear it, wear it, wear it! (I rewore mine for my birthday zoom party, because... yes.)

You'll look fabulous, you'll feel like The Bride, and everyone understands that you had to change at the last minute.

I would try to get it hemmed to deal with grass, though.

    Hi Alexis,

I'm so sorry you had to change your plans! However, I do not think this is an end all. Wear your dress, GIRL! You are going to be so beautiful on your big day. Be sure to share a picture with us afterwards Smiley smile

Sending lots of love your way!

    Smiley heart
