How will our guests find their seat?

DlovesD, on May 22, 2014 at 2:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

We are having a fairly small wedding, 91 adults. Instead of table numbers we are using names of pets who have been special in our lives, (we both love animals)

Will our guests have trouble finding their table without them being numbered? There are 13 tables and the room is not that large, a quick sweep of the room and they would be all set. Do you think we need some kind of map to the table names? At this point it just seems like an extra thing to do and I'd rather not. I think adults should be able to find a table without it causing a huge issue but I'd hate for that to be something they would complain about. Opinions? Do we need some kind of table map?

No, you won't need a map. Most of the weddings I've been to, people show their cards to each other to figure out who they're sitting with first, and then when its actually time to find the table, they all help each other out. It's usually a very quick process, even with three times that many tables, and I've never come across an issue.

I am having a seating chart which I will layout to somewhat match the layout of the room so that they will know roughly what area their table is in.

We did MLB teams and didn't have a map. We had 8 tables (72 guests) and no issues. Smiley smile

    I think you'll be fine.

We're doing locations of places we've been with pictures on each table (with the location name on the pic). The escort cards just say the location name table.

Can you add numbers? Like, 1. Fluffy, 2. Mr. Whiskers? In theory, it shouldn't be too hard to find, but 91 excited people milling around are more likely to get confused.

I am doing table names but also adding number so it's easier to find the tables.

I think that is a cute idea, I love pets. do you have ushers or a cooradinator to help them locate it?

Will you have a names list buy the guest book to see where they are sitting? I like the ideas of having the names and numbers.

We are doing something similar with places we've been to. I'm thinking I might place them on the tables is alphabetical order. Maybe this will make it a little easier to navigate.

Our tables are named after books we love, but there are numbers included as well, so it depends I guess. But I can't imagine that it will be that huge of an issue lol

How are you displaying the names? I think your wedding size is manageable enough that people can find their table.

Cute idea! We were going to do names of islands but I was going to also add a little number so it wouldn't be confusing. I decided just to do numbers though.

I think it would help to have table numbers along with the names. I recently went to a wedding with no numbers only names of cities the couple had vacationed. While it was a lovely idea, people were walking around aimlessly and asking others if it was the right table. My suggestion would be to do the pet names and numbers in chronological order.
