How to Spend Original Wedding Date

Natalia, on July 29, 2020 at 9:18 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10
So, my fiancé and I were supposed to get married this Saturday, August 1st.

We are now postponed until June, but I feel like the 1st will be a hard day, and I definitely want to spend it with my fiancé.
Did anyone do anything with their fiancé to celebrate what would have been your original wedding date? I already have the date available and off of work, so might as well do something fun? 🤦🏻‍♀️😂
Thanks!

So sorry you had to postpone! My original wedding date was the day before yours (July 31, 2020), but we postponed to July 2022.

My fiance and I planned a mini trip, to the area where our wedding was supposed to take place, for the weekend with a couple friends. We are visiting our rehearsal dinner venue for dinner and drinks, visiting our venue for lunch the next day (our venue has a restaurant on site), and just hanging out with our friends and making it a weekend filled with happy memories. I also put together a gift basket for my fiance, with a pint glass that says "Drinking because COVID postponed my wedding", a card, a bottle of wine, and his favorite coffee and candy. It's gone from being a day I was dreading, to now a weekend I'm really excited for!

I totally recommend doing something fun! Do a date night, or get together with friends and make a weekend of it. Or contact your photographer to see if you can do a second engagement photo shoot on your original date. Or do a movie night with popcorn, just the two of you. No matter what, I recommend doing something fun to make it a happy day!

I’m so sorry you have to postpone! Our original date was May 23rd and honestly, we didn’t do anything special bc we had a very sick dog who wouldn’t last much longer. We talked & accepted that we wouldn’t be married on our original date but had faith in our new date (Aug 23rd) that things would be better.
Now we are nearly 23 days out and things are not better BUT we are still getting married and are more in love than we ever had been before. Our dog passed away last week and we’ve decided to begin a new chapter and embrace everything that comes with it.
I wish you all the very best!! ❤️

Aww so sorry hun...you guys should definitely do something fun together. We postponed our 9/19 wedding and we're going to still take that time to go on vacation! We planned our butts off so we feel like we deserve to still celebrate us. If they start shutting down again and we can't make it out the states, we're grabbing a nice house in Vegas with a pool, renting ATVs, maybe grand canyon tour or anything adventurous off the strip lol away from the crowd!!!

Yes! Definitely celebrate this magical day! It holds a special place in your heart Smiley smile

My fiancé & I are doing a coastal roadtrip on your original date from socal to NorCal. We hired a photographer to take our elopement photos and exchange our vows.
Have a fun spontaneous safe close by roadtrip! You planned your ass off and went thru one hell of a rollercoaster of emotions.

We were supposed to be July 11. We ordered in from a nice restaurant, watched a movie, and ate a cake from our bakery. That being said, we live in So Cal where everything has been shut down again, so there really wasn’t much more to do.

Sorry about your dog. Heartbreaking when we lose our furry family members.

I’m so sorry to hear you had to postpone your wedding! I understand completely our original date was April 18, 2020 and we were less than a month away when we had to postpone. We pushed our wedding back to July 18, 2020, because we assumed things would be better by then. But ultimately we decided to get married anyway, we changed it to April 19th since that was our anniversary and the date we originally wanted. I ordered a dress off of amazon and asked my uncle who was already our officiant to marry us. We got married in my Aunt and Uncle’s back yard. Our parents were there our siblings watched via zoom, and we had our wedding photographer come take pictures. I tell you, it was nothing I ever expected but it was absolutely perfect! 💕 I know that your special day is this weekend but I would definitely celebrate with your fiancé! ☺️ Have a photo session with your fiancé, or host a zoom call with some family and friends to “celebrate“ your special day, play games, drink and celebrate! 💕

Yes! Definitely do something to make you guys happy on that day. You don't want to just sit and mope around about what could've been, you know? We will still be getting legally married on our original date, and then going for a little minimoon to Big Sur for a just a couple nights because we don't live too far. Do something, anything, that you guys enjoy! Smiley smile

We postponed from 10/10/20 to 10/30/21. So over our former wedding weekend, we’re going to do a mini getaway instead. Not sure where yet. We’re in San Diego so I tossed out the idea of Santa Barbara.
