How to politely let vendors know you aren't using them

ThefutureMrsRech, on August 6, 2017 at 10:53 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Hi!

I have a few DOC and other vendors that I have interviewed and am not moving forward with for a DW. I want to let them know but am not sure how to go about it in a polite and sincere way. Any tips/advice? Thank you!

Hi ______, I just wanted to touch base and let you know that although we really appreciate the time you've given us we have decided to go with a different _______.

You don't owe an explanation as to why, but obviously letting them know you're going with someone else shows you value their time and that's all you can do if you're not signing a contract with them.

Thank you for your time and attention. We have decided to go with a different florist.

I would keep it minimal. Thank them for their time and just say you chose to go with someone else. Not a big deal so don't stress!

Maybe if they ask you, just say we have decided to select a different vendor and thank you for your time, but I wouldn't say anything if they didn't prompt you first.

I told my vendors why... and I actually went with a vendor I initially wasn't going to hire because of it. It's our videographer. I thought the video on his website was a little blurry but personally and package wise we loved him best. Turns out the video on his website uploaded in a lower format. He was SO thankful I told him, mailed us several DVDs that were amazing quality and has since fixed his website. I think most appreciate knowing why so they can fix it even if it may not change your mind they'd probably like to know for other brides. But I do agree with previous posters you don't owe them an explanation if you don't feel comfortable.
