How to make a light up wedding dress

Does anyone know how I can add lights to a wedding dress. I like how the dress lights up and would love to do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvxruB9Gpxs

That's pretty awesome. I don't know why people have to come in a thread and voice their opinions when they weren't asked for. Who cares if you don't think it's not right or it's gaudy/tacky. It's not your wedding and if you want to stay safe and go the cookie cutter route, then more power to you.

I think it would be an awesome surprise for a first dance. I mean, most of your guests will be bored to tears watching all of the dances anyway. Why not make it fun? Good luck!

Smiley smile That's awesome, I saw a show on TLC about Gypsy girls getting married with dresses like this and I thought WOW that's creative!!!! Just make sure you have a Fire Extinguisher on hand hahaha no seriously the dress makers said they had some issues with dresses catching on fire.

There was a link to the TLC video, including an interview with the bride. From that, a few things:

    1. She said the LED were sewn into the dress (likely after she bought it), by a seamstress

    2. Battery powered (obviously) but the battery pack could have even been homemade

    3. Wireless remote triggered by someone in the room.

Finding a wireless remote and battery pack shouldn't be too hard. You just need to calculate the total power draw for the number of lights, including voltage, then get the right battery pack.

Battery packs shouldn't create enough heat to catch the fabric on fire, but there's always a first time. Just get the battery pack in something non-conductive and you'll be fine.

Not my cup of tea but...you would probably have to talk to your seamstress and see if she could alter the dress to have lights sewn in...

That is definitely something different so you would hit your goal there if that's your goal. I would say it's a pretty ill-advised goal, but hey whatever floats your boat, as long as the costs associated with adding the lights don't affect the way you treat your guests I have no issues with it because I won't have to see the ugly (in my opinion) thing.

So, you want to look like a Christmas tree for your first dance? Awesome. I honestly hope you don't regret it in 20 years when you look at your wedding photos.

You know how you watch a horror movie, and you want to yell at the screen, "Don't go down the stairs! The killer is in the basement! RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!"

Did the fictional character ask for my opinion? Nope, but they would have benefited from it. Same thing for people who want to do things for their weddings that they would most likely regret.

Aww thats such a cute idea!! I like the light up shoes too! I would like battery operated lights would be the way to go! hit up craft stores.. well anywhere now cause of christmas! and Find some lights and tape them under the dress! I would definately do something like that! Not for a really sophisticated wedding maybe, but I am having a more laid back modern wedding
