how to lose weight from my face

papijack, on March 9, 2009 at 3:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 15

Hi all

This might seem like a weird question...but does anyone have any suggestions on how to lose weight from your face?

Overall I do need to lose weight, but my biggest concern is my face. If someone were to guess my weight based on my picture neck up, they would guess that I would be at least 20lbs heavier than my actual weight. I appear to have a double chin and very full cheeks, and I really need to know if there are any good exercises that can help get rid of that. My wedding is two months away and I need my face to look good in the pictures.

Help!!

P.S. don't be fooled with my profile pic..that is over a year old.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as "spot reduction" on your face or any other part of your body. If you want to lose a gut and do a million crunches everyday you will have very tight muscles UNDER a load of fat. The only way to lose fat is through nutrition and excersise and then it has to come off all over you, the way your body wants it to. So if a person has saddle bags they can lose weight over their whole body but there is no one excersise that will melt that specific spot away. Any trainer will tell you this. The only way to lose fat on your face, after you have lost whatever weight you need to, would be liposuction. DON'T do it though! I'm sure your FH loves you exactly the way you are and you're being too hard on yourself! I think it's great to start eating well and exercising to get healthy, but don't worry about having a naturally round face, it's what makes you, you!

I had the same issues... I have a naturally very "fat" face with chubby cheeks and a pretty noticeable double chin thing going on when I was at my heaviest... Honestly, just working out and eating smaller portions took the extra chin right off!!! My face actually lost weight before the rest of me to tell you the truth... I work out about 4-5 times a week (sometimes more sometimes less depending on the week) and eat normally just smaller amounts... when snacking I normally only have fruits or veggies... notice how I said normally... I do about 35-45 minutes of cardio a day and just started really getting back into weight training and toning... Trust me if you do those things and really make it a lifestyle change your body will adjust and it wont even be hard after awhile... yes sometimes I have to force myself to go to the gym... but the double chin is gone, the rest of me is slimming down considerably so its totally worth it... Best of Luck

I agree with what was said. I gain weight in my face first...and lost it when I started eating better and exercising more. It did not go away by doing any specific exercise.

I know its not easy to hear...I wish it was some quick way to get rid of problem areas...like my awful mid-section...but we know that there is no such thing as quick fixes...at least not ones that are healthy

    cheers!

Just as a general exercising comment, and this may go without saying, but find something that you think is actually enjoyable so you think of it as a recreation as opposed to "work" -- my personal example is bike riding. even at a leisurely pace for 3 days a week, i had dropped 10 pounds in 1.5 months.

Be sure to look into a makeup artist that knows how to shade properly to "correct" any areas you want to minimize. There is a whole art to darkening or highlighting certain areas that can make your face look thinner. Don't expect miracles, but it can definetly help.

I hear you...my weight fluctuates up and down within only about 10 pounds or so, but it is very noticable in my face when I'm on the higher end! I figure I'll have to lose the 10 pounds for my face to look thinner.

Very good suggestion from the above poster...you can use make up to shade areas of your face to make it look more sculpted. I sometimes do that to thin out my Italian/Albanian nose! (I learned that trick from Oprah - her makeup artist does it all the time for her)

Just as the other posters said its about a balanced approach. You want to watch what you eat and you want to get in some exercise. I actually work with clients who want to lose weight and I have to say that as soon as you start its usually the face to show the results first. That being said everyone does lose weight differently.

For any brides who are looking into dieting or watching their nutrition to just get a little healthier before their big day I would definitely recommend www.sparkpeople.com

Its a free diet website which allows you to choose any program you want and track it on their website. I think of it as kind of a myspace or facebook for dieters and they do have their own diet plan that has you cooking all your own healthy delicious meals. Check it out its really neat.

    Good luck!

If you're like me and are too lazy to exercise, the best way to get rid of that is to do weight watchers!! I lost 13 pounds in a month and a half.. and all I did was eat better! The first place you notice a difference is in your face, well at least it was for me! If you don't feel like actually joining weight watchers, just remember: smaller portions, and use your common sense over whether something is unhealthy or not. Eat TONS of veggies and fruits, and obviously cut out the fast food.. and you'll be good to go! Obviously if you want quicker results you're going to have to do some cardio.. walks, jogs, tredmill (blech), dance, exercise videos, whatever you like best!

    Lots of luck dear!

    Hi Coll

Thanks for your response. Wow!! You lost 13 lbs in the first month!! Thats amazing!

Actually, I did start WW earlier this week. But the thing is, I have tried it several times in the past, and I find myself dropping out after a couple of weeks. I am constantly hungry when I am on it and I feel like the daily point allowance is not enough.

I am trying really hard to stick to it this time!!!

I too am trying to loose weight. I recently moved to South America and before I moved I was working out faithfully and weight training. I lost close to 25lbs but it looked like more because of the weights, I believe that is crucial. It sucks. I don't like weight training at all, but I do believe it is the best way to get results with a good mix of cardio. I don't think spot reduction works. You have to have a good combination of exercise and proper diet, don't forget the water. Diet is important, but your results will be better with exercise. I have also done Weight Watchers in the past. It is a wonderful program because it teaches you food portions.

    Good Luck!

I too have my nice round cheeks...but need to lose weight. I notice that people tend to comment that it looks like I have lost weight because my face gets less puffy. I notice that if I cut out soda (diet and regular), carbonated beverages (i don't need the sweet, but love the bubbles), and watch my salt (another weakness...I can say NO to icecream whenever, but a bowl of chips...watch out).

Anything to make you retain less water should help. Drinking more water will help counteract the bad stuff.

    GOOD LUCK!!!

A makeup artist can help recede and accentuate areas on your face by properly contouring and highlighting. The results are higher looking cheekbones and a more chiseled profile. A round face takes on more of an oval look with the proper contouring. If you are hiring a makeup artist, explain your concerns to your makeup artist. If you are not hiring a makeup artist, there are books that can educate you on how to properly contour your face. Contouring is normally done with a matte bronzer. You should try to avoid the shimmery ones, especially if you have oily skin. Practice the techniques and take pictures to see how it looks through the camera lense. One great book worth looking at is Robert Jones' Makeup Makeovers: Weddings. It's good for not only highlighting and contouring but for all bridal makeup tips. The web is also a great source. There are tons of videos on the net regarding makeup application.

Hope this helps. Best of Luck!

    Good luck!

As you have heard you can not lose it in just one place on a diet. However I have been using a product for the last 2 weeks and have lost 10 lbs and 6" and have been told it can be seen in my neck and face. I have never felt better or had more energy. I beleive you could lose the weight before your wedding day. Contact Lynette Roberts 714.743.8885
