How to let guests know of postponement?

Jennifer, on June 10, 2013 at 1:43 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

I've only sent out STD's thus far. About 90% of my side.is.on facebook. FH will notify his.side.by word.of.mouth and FMIL.will let.others.know. Is it okay to not send out.cancellation or postponement notices by mail since the invites haven't been sent out yet? Were talking about.90-100 people.

I believe it is most appropriate to send out some sort of notice. It could be a postcard...but there should definitely be something official...

Do you have it rescheduled yet? If you do, I would think you could send out something with the new date on it and announce the change at the same time.

I saw this in a movie, it was a cute way of letting people know, maybe in a postcard, or it could say, our wedding is a work in progress, and either add the new details if you have them or say we will keep everyone informed, maybe add check your website...

I would send a postcard to make sure everyone gets the notice. From personal experience, please do not send in an envelope full of hot pink glitter. We had a family member do that when going from a large family wedding to a small intimate wedding where we (cousins) were no longer invited. Totally supported that they were downsizing for financial reasons, but totally not thrilled to have pink glitter in my car Smiley winking

Definitely send out some type of notification. I only sent out STDs also. I told my mom and FMIL to let the immediate family members know, but as proper etiquette, you should send out something. I sent out a small postcard stating the wedding has been postponed and more details will come.

I agree something needs to go out but make sure you have a response ready when people start asking questions BECAUSE THEY WILL. People are nosy and insensitive. Decide ahead of time how you want to answer the questions and clue your immediate family in as well. You don't want all of the personal details of your relationship out there and you don't want to feel on the spot when the rude questions flock. You have made a very brave decision and you've always got the support of your WW friends Smiley smile

I would send out something to those you sent out STD's to.

Just say we have postponed the date and will keep you informed thanks for understanding.
