How to keep you wedding under 3500

Erin, on September 20, 2012 at 1:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

Hello, I am trying to have a wedding on October 15 2013 with approximately 55-60 people. We want an all inclusive place but I am having a problem finding a reception/wedding site in metro Atlanta or Savannah under 3500.00. Does anyone have any suggestions. I'm about at the point of elloping? Thanks! Erin

Did you look at state parks? They often have some gorgeous outdoor areas for a fraction of the rental fee. You can also save that way by being able to bring your own alcohol and caterers.

    Hey Erin!

    Welcome to WW!

When you mean all inclusive, what exactly are you talking about? When working on such budget the first thing I think of would be a small guest list which you already have. Next I would consider time of the week and time of day. Obviously weekdays and morning/afternoons render cheaper options than the others. Also the type of food you are interested in should be put into consideration. Full dinner/Lunch or something light and brunchy?

I am sure the other ladies here would be of great help to u!

Welcome to WW again Smiley smile

Thank you so much for the quick responses. What I meant was 3500.00 for the wedding ceremony and reception. We have our own preacher so we would just need a location and seating. As far as the reception we are open to any and all suggestions. We need the wedding ceremony, reception and food at ****. We will provide our own DJ, photographer, minster and flowers. We are getting married October 15 2013 which is a tuesday if that helps. Thank you so much for any and all suggestions.

Welcome to WW, Erin! $3500 is tight but doable. The main thing that will kill a budget is the number of guests, so if you keep your guest list low, that will go a long way. Like Gee mentioned, a lunch/brunch or even just an hors d'oeuvres reception can help you save some money too.

And looking at it again, I'll second Amy's question -- is your entire budget $3500, or that's just for the venue?

And I hope you'll stick around the boards and update your avatar to a unique picture so we can remember you and help you more in the future! The default avatars can get lost in the crowd or ignored. That's do-able...I'd check out community halls as they typically rent for cheaper and most of them have a kitchen, chairs, tables, etc and some even do have some of your rentals (plates, cutlery, etc). Then check out caterers and this is where you will really want to shop around and get detailed quotes! Their per person costs vary greatly as do the inclusions ie: some give u a price and that ends up being for the food only and they charge u by the hour for servers, chefs - some even charge for their equipment! I found it to be more cost effective to rent a venue and bring in my own caterer, rental company and alcohol...the all inclusive options seemed to cost more and you end up having a lot less choice because the packages are somewhat limited. My venue rental was $1800 it was spectacular, but we did consider a few others ie: community hall was $200, an Inn had an event centre for $500, etc; my caters we're $19.95 a head with no extra charges, my rentals were $3 a head and then we brought in our own bevvies

Cut the guest list. Mine was around there and we cut it without mercy down to 25 people Smiley smile Also we live in florida but we found some decent places in the blue ridge mountain area of ga that had great prices. Since we love the mountains we are just migrating up there for the wedding Smiley smile

I know this isn't exactly in atlanta area but if you are willing to consider moving the I think you would get more bang for your buck. Try this place http://www.mountainlaurelcabinrentals.com/vacation-rental-home.asp?PageDataID=61245

I know this is going to sound crazy but my budget is under $2,500 and I have stayed true to it. We are having it in my parents back yard and our reception in our church gym. But we also cut down a lot of un-necessary items like programs and favors for instance. We got our cake for $300, my dress for $400 and the gym is $200 but we get $100 back afterwards. Food and flowers both can be quite expensive, but we have a friend who is a florist who is doing ours for $400, but you can do your own and they can still look nice. Food we are getting a lot of stuff from Sam's like finger foods so that takes food cost down. It is very doable, just don't stress yourself. You have to just be very crafty and have some people or someone who will help you plan, even if its your WW friends Smiley smile

Mon.-Thurs. get a price break here ($500-$600). Tables & chairs for 135 are included, along with a catering kitchen. Just to give you an idea of prices.

That's totally doable. October is still PEAK, especially the first 2 weeks but if you're having in during the week, I don't think you will have a problem finding a venue to accomodate your needs within your budget. Also - don't be afraid to haggle. There is always a little wiggle room.

    Good luck

Erin, if your entire budget is up to 4K, how are you going to cover DJ, photographer, attire, etc. if 3,500 go to the venue?

Mrs S my budget for the venue, food and ceremony is 4k. I have a dj of my own, a photographer. We are not including the dress which is a gift from my mother, grooms attire or flowers in that.
