How to include teens in wedding?

Cayley, on March 24, 2018 at 8:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hi everyone! My fiance and I are trying to decide how to include his 15 and 14 year old niece and nephew in our special day. We don't really like the idea of junior bridesmaids and groomsmen so I'm wondering if any of you have any other ideas? Thank you in advance!

Four of our bridal part members will be young also, we are having them as normal groomsmen and bridesmaids, while we are doing our own 21+ weekends we are also doing a weekend with the ones who will not be old enough.

I think we upset the future in laws by NOT having FH’s nieces as junior bridesmaids but we already have 7 bridesmaids so oh well. He has 4 nieces 5, 8, 13, and 16 plus a 10 year old nephew. We are planning to have the 5 year old as our flower girl and then just asking the rest of the kids to help greet guests, hand out programs, help show people the guest book, etc and help seat people for the ceremony.

They could do readings or toasts (if they are comfortable with public speaking). You could also have them be ushers or regular bridesmaids.

We considered having our 4 kids 2 girls 2 boys with ages of **** as the wedding party.
But then we cancelled that idea so we don’t have to deal with kids complaining. So they will be attending like regular guests, sitting in front row.
At 14-15 the nieces should be old enough to participate as normal wedding party (without title of JR) if they actually WANT to do it.

Teens are are pretty good when they want to do things and like the outfit etc.
but trying to gather teens in outfits you picked out and they hate, for something as simple as family pics.... I wasn’t dealing with that drama on wedding day.

We are getting married in his family church so we are having my FH niece(15) and nephew(12) hand out programs and lay the isle runner.

You can include them by having them walk-in as a "special guest". I will be doing something very similar for my nephews. Our wedding is adults only but we have made special consideration for very close family members as such. We too, didn't like the idea of junior bridesmaids and groomsmen as well so we opted for this route.
