How to include an 11 year old boy in wedding

Katie & Bryan, on January 2, 2017 at 3:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

I have a godson who will be 11 by the time of the wedding. I feel that he is too old to be the RB, but I want to include him in the wedding. I have considered junior groomsman, but I don't have a junior bridesmaid to pair him with. Any other ideas on how to include him in the ceremony?

Have him do a reading or be an usher.

Or he can just be a guest and enjoy the wedding.

He doesn't have to be paired with anyone if you want him as a junior groomsman; sides can be uneven. Otherwise I second what Kathleen said.

Why would he be too old to be a ring bearer? That doesn't make sense to me. The 2-year-old ring bearer is a fairly new thing. An 11-year-old is perfectly fine for RB.

I dont think 11 is too old- my two ring bearers will be 11 and 8, I asked him very frankly if he was okay with being a ring bearer and he said he was fine- although the other ring bearer is his cousin and they are pretty close.

I'm having my 11 and 16 year old nephews be ushers and specifically walk my mom down the aisle. I originally thought 11 was odd for a ring bearer too but I wouldn't be opposed to that now.

    He could be an usher.

I find that most 11 year olds would be cool not having a job, but another idea that hasn't been said--he could help pass out programs for the ceremony!

He is fine to be a RB, but let him be a guest. It's probably what he'd pick

DS will be 11 when FH and I get married. He will be a jr groomsman. XH is getting married next year as well. DS will be RB in that wedding. At that age, any option including guest is acceptable.
