How to have steak cooked?

Nicolio, on February 19, 2016 at 6:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 59

We are offering chicken, steak, and a veggie option. My question/ dilemma is the steak. I personally like mine well done my dad likes his medium rare ,FH is indifferent he will eat anything . So according to my caterer all steaks will have to be cooked the same. So I decided on medium well. Do you think most people will be ok with it? RSVPs have been coming in and everyone picked steak. So help me out how do you all like yours? I'm interested to know what the majority like.

I would NOT have it medium well. That will be over cooked for majority of your guests. I think medium is a very universal cook on meats. If I got a medium well steak, I wouldn't eat it, but thats just my preference.

I personally like mine medium rare plus. Which is in-between medium rare and medium.

But for your wedding, I would definitely go for medium!

ETA- you can talk to your caterer, and ask them to cooks yours a little longer. I am sure they will! We were going to have fish as one of the options on our dual entree, but FH doesn't like fish. The caterer offered to make him a separate entree. After talking to my family, apparently none of them would eat fish either so we went with chicken and filet instead.

I think medium is the best bet, it won't be too tough then if they did get cooked a little longer. But medium well would be my second choice.

I would go for medium; that will satisfy both sides of the spectrum.

As someone who eats their steak rare I would be pissed. I think medium would be the way to go. It's not red but a nice pink color. Once it's cooked too well it starts to dry out and is awful.

For the love of steak don't go above medium. People ordering steak will thank you.

Signed - a true steak lover, the mooer the better.

Medium is definitely your best bet to make the most people happy. This is actually why I am not serving beef because I know people will always be be unhappy

I like mine rare, occasionally medium rare, so I would be annoyed that I didn't know beforehand so that I could pick a different option. Ultimately, it's one dinner and I would get over it pretty quickly though.

I would do medium. When I ate meat, I ate it rare, so medium well would be way over for me.

Bleh. Well done steak, you may as well just eat dry chicken! lol. I prefer my steak rare, but ask for it medium rare in restaurants because I don't trust cooks to cook it correctly. For a wedding, I would go with medium but that's just me.

Medium. If someone really freaks out, I'm sure the staff can throw it back in the oven for a few, but you can't go back....

And I'm sure they'll cook yours a little more.

I like my steak either rare or medium rare. I would tolerate medium, but anything above that is ruining a perfectly good steak. I'd opt for the chicken if it was above medium.

I agree with ordering medium for the same reasons PPs have stated. If I was served a well done steak I'd likely not eat it or possibly send it back. Whenever I order steaks, I order medium rare. FH would prefer it mooing if he could, so he normally orders rare or rare plus.
