How to end a brunch wedding

Marie, on January 14, 2021 at 10:59 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15

Hi everyone!

We're looking at a brunch wedding, but we're a little lost on good ways to end it without having people standing around like "what now?" . What do you all think?

You could do a grand exit at the end! That would signal to people that the reception is ending.

That's a good idea! I saw someone in another post mention having an after party later in the evening

An after party is a great idea too! You could make an announcement towards the end of the reception, saying something along the lines of, "Thank you for attending our wedding! We are glad you were able to join us for this special day. We are hosting an after party at [time] at [location], and we'd love to see you there!" If you're doing a grand exit too, that would be a great time to announce it and set it up! If not doing a grand exit, you could always just end the announcement with something like, "Drive safe!"

A grand exit typically symbolizes the end of the event.

I had a friend that at the end of hers she had everyone come to the dance floor and take a group photo. And then you have the DJ make announcement or something.

A grand exit works really well!

You can also have your DJ or MC announce the last dance or last song to let your guests know the event is coming to a close!

I have never even fathomed a brunch wedding and its genius. I agree with the others just do a big dramatic exit and that'll tell people that you are leaving and the wedding is over, but I would put something in your programs if you are doing an after party for later in the evening.

Thanks Ariel! Brunch is nice because it's a bit cheaper and it lets people enjoy the rest of their day if they want to haha

I don't think we're going to, I can't imagine people will be dancing very much first thing in the morning. Maybe we'll just make an announcement and do an exit ourselves haha

Our wedding was at 11, lunch reception afterwards, and by around 2:30 people were gone, if not a bit earlier. We had no dance, lol, so people were like.....bye!!!

You can always white lie and say the room is being used at 3 or 4 if asked!
