How to deal with venue decor restrictions?

Kristin, on November 13, 2019 at 3:03 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12
So the venue we picked states in they're contract we signed that they have some decor restrictions. I've copied what is said directly from the contract and it states: "Mcmenamins policy prohibits taping, tacking, or stapling to any surface. Mcmenamins also prohibits the use of confetti, rice, birdseed and synthetic flower"
I would imagine without tapping, tacking, or stapling, there isn't any other way to setup decor.
Has anyone else ran into this issue before with they're venues? If you have, what did you do to resolve the decor issues?

My venue had somewhat similar restrictions. But I asked what I could have. My venue actually allows command hooks. Most places just don't want damage. I would reach out to the coordinator or manager and ask specifically what they allow. They would probably be more helpful. As far as the confetti issue; mine allows real flowers, and biodegradable confetti. Damage free things you could do ; free-standing draping, up/downlighting, monogram and gobos lighting. I have also seen bistro lights that were on stands. Do you have a specific vision for your decor?

Our venue has similar restrictions, but we didn’t want any decor that attached to the wall anyway. Do you already have specific wall decor picked out? Could you ask the venue what previous couples have done?

My mom decorated our rehearsal dinner venue and they had the same restrictions except she could use artificial flowers. The photo I included is what the tables looked like. She also had one of our engagement pictures printed out and displayed on an easle with lights around the frame. It was all very beautiful. If you want you use any flowers they would have to be real. You could also use mirrors, candles, crystals, or balloons. I'm not sure what you are envisioning, but you just have to be creative.

I’ve seen this before but it wasn’t an issue for my wedding. We had nice florals and paid extra for the venue to put up lights. I am so sorry !

My venue have similar restrictions. I asked them what I can do in order to decorate it. The person who is helping me is very nice in helping me because she wants me to have the wedding of my dreams. She even gave me some ideas about how I can do things. As you are visiting and talking to a rep ask questions so that you can a wedding of your dream.

Those statements don’t seem very restrictive at all. But what specific decorations are you using that need to be taped, stapled or tacked to a wall?

I'm not allowed to have any of the listed or candles with flames which really irritated me. You could make your own backdrop and decorate that. Something like the attached photo. In all honesty, I don't know what you would attach to the wall anywaySmiley smileVintage-Wedding-Centerpieces-and-Decorat

Those restrictions are pretty common as places don’t want damage to their walls. Most people don’t put decorations on the wall anyway so these are really not very restrictive.

I liked what Ashley said about the command strips! I completely forgot about that. Those things are the best really. I couldn't wrap my head around what could be done with any taping/tacking, it confused me. I have a Pinterest board with ideas. Here are some of the ideas I am trying to work with.

I am going with white, silver/grey, orchid, and purple tones for the theme and flowers. I am try do a classy vintage somewhat rustic theme since it's in a a brewery that looks somewhat like a large old style parlor.

This is what the inside of the venue actually looks like. So what I have to work with.

I had this issue. I ended up not rly decorating because mine was similar to your venue in the sense that there's very nice chandeliers type lighting.
