How soon is too soon to start actually planning?

Rachel, on October 27, 2020 at 4:08 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

My wedding is in January of 2022 and I already have a LOT of stuff planned, like my wedding favors, my flower arrangements, my bridesmaids' dresses, my cake flavor, etc. I keep getting crap for figuring all of this out now (even though there's still more to do and everything to pay for), but I feel like the more I plan now, the less I have to worry about as the wedding approaches. Am I crazy?

I don't think you're crazy! I don't think it's too far in advance to plan for a 2022 wedding, especially a January 2022 wedding. The earlier you get it done, the less stress you have later by trying to figure things out last minute.

I don’t think you’re crazy at all. We started planning our January 2022 wedding in November of 2019.

First off you’re not crazy (at least I hope not since I really don’t know you) LOL! I’ve always felt that the sooner i started planning & organizing, the calmer I felt. That’s gonna be the less on your plate the closer it gets.

I don't think you're crazy, we started planning our October 2020 wedding in March 2019... which is now our October 2021 wedding!

Its not crazy. I find it was better to start early, you can take your time to choose what you want. I know for me sometimes I get frustrated so its nice to have the time to step away from wedding planning for a few weeks and then just pick it back up with a fresh outlook.

Not crazy at all, as a matter of fact, planning is way easier if you start that early. You don't feel as overwhelmed because you have time (don't be fooled though, it will go by very fast). My fiancé and I have been engaged for almost 2 years, we are getting married in December and we started planning Feb/March of 2018...

Also, the financial hit is not as bad since you can spread out your payments over the course of 2 years instead of paying it all at once. I know I appreciate it that lol....

    Hope this helps!

The more time you have to plan the better. It's never to soon. We began planning our June 2021 in May 2019.

Agreeing with the sentiments above! We started planning our October 2020 wedding in August 2018. If you plan early, you can also spread out payments and buy things a little at a time, and minimize your stress overall.

Now, there is always a chance that you can change your mind and have to re-buy something, but other than that, more power to you!

Plan as early as you can. We got engaged August 2018 and started planning our October 2020 wedding asap. It was great picking everything out early like vendors and all. It was less stressful.

Planning early allows for less stress and more time to save up for extra expenses or your honeymoon! I had booked almost all of my vendors in November 2019 for my June 2021 wedding.
