How Soon After Your Wedding Will You Be Leaving For Your Honeymoon?

Lisa, on May 3, 2021 at 4:35 PM Posted in Honeymoon 2 134
When are you planning to take your honeymoon? Some people leave the night of the wedding, some leave the next day, others within a few weeks/months, or some prefer to wait until their first anniversary! How long after your wedding do you plan to leave for your honeymoon?

Oh wow, awesome! Did everything work out with timing/do you recommend leaving the next morning for the honeymoon? Or did you wish you had a few extra days to recover from the wedding day before flying out?

We’re planning for 2-3 weeks after so, we can kinda recover our bank accounts from the wedding lol and possibly use any late cash wedding gifts on the trip as well.

Our flight is the next morning! I don't know if that was our best idea but we are going with it!

We’re planning on leaving two days after our wedding so we can unwind and relax the day after with our friends and loved ones (we’re having a destination wedding) and then leaving on Monday when people will likely be leaving as well!

Totally makes sense! Sounds like enough time to recover both emotionally and financially (because weddings are stressful and expensive!!!), but still close enough to the wedding to where you're still in that newlywed phase.

Exactly! I feel like I would be too tired to leave the next day or so.

I'm sure it will all work out well! I think that leaving the next morning is a great way to keep the party going!! You'd likely still be in celebration mode from the wedding the night before. The only downside is having to be careful to not go overboard the night before, so that you don't accidentally oversleep and miss the flight, lol.

Very cool! That seems like a good balance between having enough time to recover from the wedding day craziness/getting everything in order before you leave, and still being in celebration mode from the wedding.

We’ll be having our wedding on a Saturday and leaving for our honeymoon on the Monday afterwards. This is my second wedding and when trying to plan out our wedding weekend I was explaining that I would be too exhausted to wake up at 3am for a 7am flight the next day lol as I didn’t wake up the day after my first wedding until noon 😂. So we will be driving a few hours to a different airport so our flight is non stop the day after our wedding and flying out from there on Monday.

We made that choice because our wedding was four hours from where we live and it was much cheaper to fly out of the airport near our house than the smaller airport near where we got married.

That sounds like a really good plan! Enough time to recover from the wedding day craziness, but still in celebration mode. My fiance and I are considering a similar plan, but haven't decided for sure yet.

I feel like I would be too! I'd be worried that I'd be worn out from all the wedding week excitement and then immediately traveling and be too tired to really enjoy the honeymoon. Though, I can see how it might work out best for some people to leave the next day. I think it's totally dependent on the person.

It’s definitely a lot to consider so I understand! I feel like you can’t really go wrong either way, you’re gonna enjoy your honeymoon regardless of when you decide to leave

Our wedding is on a Thursday night, leaving for a long weekend getaway Saturday - Tuesday to the mountains just outside Las Vegas. I'm taking two weeks off work regardless! lol My fiancé doesn't get a lot of time off so we are doing what we can with the little time he gets.

Before we changed our date, our wedding was on a Saturday and we would’ve left that Monday (wanted a day between to finish packing, spend time with the dogs, etc. without the wedding frenzy!). We’re now getting married in early September, which is also the busiest month of the year for my job, so we’re not leaving for our honeymoon until October (on our 1-month anniversary lol).

We are planning on going a week after the wedding. We both liked the idea of having extra time to get things organized and not feel overwhelmed.

We are getting married 12 December 2021 and our honeymoon is booked for 27 December 2021 in part because (a) we have another wedding to go to between those dates and (b) I hate new years and would prefer to be away for it lol. I don’t actually know though if we will be making our honeymoon though as our government has very strict travel restrictions due to COVID so chances are it will be postponed til next year
