How soon after your engagement did you start planning your wedding?

My family is feeling like we are moving too fast in touring and finding vendors for our wedding though is 13 months away. We got engaged this week July 17th. Is it too soon to plan? Should I set the date further?

I started planning 3 weeks after the engagement. We got engaged March 2017 so we'll have a 15 month engagement by the time we're married.

We are having a year and a half engagement which gives us plenty of time to plan and save! I would say pick your venue now and then relax for a month or two!

Never too soon! Got engaged 12/29/16, getting married 5/4/18. Between us both working full time and me in school full time, I needed space and time to plan comfortably. Plus our ceremony site fills up VERY quickly and I didn't want to miss our opportunity.

Umm.. I started when I knew he was thinking about proposing. So like a year and a half before and my venue and preferred date was already booked. So.. I would say go for it.

I don't think it's too soon. I got engaged July 3, 2016 and immediately started planning. Many venues, photogs and caterers were already booked for all Saturday's in October 2017. I actually got my second choice date because of that.

I started planning things the day after we got engaged. we've been engaged for a year and 8 months and im still not completely done. im getting married in october and everyone kept telling me it was too early to plan, but I disagree. i think it keeps the stress levels down when you slowly plan

I don't think it's too soon! I started planning 16 months in advance and a lot of things were already booking up. I would rather do it early and get what you want!

We started planning in Feb. We officially got engaged July 8th. Our wedding is August 22, 2017. It's a surprise though. Everyone thinks we're planning for March which is when our big reception will be.

We got engaged on April 8th 2017, and I booked my venue by April 13th. I already had toured the venue prior to getting engaged, and booked it the week we got engaged. I already have my coordinator, caterer, officiant, and florist. Depending where you're getting married, you might have some difficulty finding vendors a year out. I'm already finding out some are booked well over a year in advance.
