How rushed were you the day of?

Ryan and Haleah, on March 29, 2015 at 5:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

For those of you who have already gotten married I was wondering how rushed you felt the morning of? If everything goes according to plan then I won't have and decorating to do that morning. The only thing that I can think that I need to do is get ready. The wedding starts at 6 pm and we are taking pictures beforehand so the hair/makeup people wanted to start tentatively around 11 (the trail is next week to see how long the styles will actually take) which will give me the morning off. Is there anything I am forgetting??

I really would like to be able to take my horse out for a ride that morning which will help relax me and her as I am hoping to ride her into my ceremony. Does this sound crazy? Lol

I'm actually surprised how calm and on schedule everything was. For me it helped to not have a clock around. The wedding was at 2 and we started getting ready at 11. I loved not having pro hair and makeup because it allowed me to get ready in my own usual time about an hour so I had time to help my sister (the flower girl) get ready while my mom nervously went around trying to figure out how to get my brother's (bridesman) pants from our house an hour and a half away. Luckily a friend/wedding guest was able to break into our house and bring them to the wedding just in time. Have someone who will be calm keep track of time for you. Good luck!

Oh man I would have so been stressing on that one, you kind of need pants! Lol

I have a DOC who is really great so I'm not stressing at all that things will go smoothly. I just would like a little time to myself in the morning to relieve any stress so hopefully that will help me from ugly crying..... hopefully haha

The wedding party and immediate family all stayed in the hotel (venue for all wedding events that weekend) the day before. It was a rush the day before getting everything to the venue and holding it in the room they gave to us to store things. It was calm the day of.

I made a schedule after careful communication with all vendors and wedding party for everyone. While we weren't on schedule 100%, it definitely kept things moving when we needed a quick reference. Schedules were specific for vendors (esp photographers and DJ), bridesmaids, groomsmen, brides parents, grooms parents, bride and groom.

We had a DOC that coordinated all the vendors the day of that also made things a lot easier!

You're going to want to cry at least once that day. My advice is to get it over with early. Mine was when I was getting ready and I was reading the note my husband wrote to me. It's on video and my photographer got a "lovely" picture of it but I knew once that was out of the way I was good for the rest of the day. Just got a little teary eyed walking with my dad down the aisle but that was to be expected.

Give yourself and your hair and make up person plenty of time to get ready- pad it by half an hour- do not rush your h & m!

The few hours in the morning were calm. After about 10AM all hell broke loose.

I think we have plenty of time set aside for hair and makeup, if not too much! I am really not girly AT ALL and don't wear makeup so I am worried because I know they have to put on extra in order for it to show up in pictures. I only have 3 bridesmaids and my mom will also be getting her hair done (5 people total including me) but with two stylist and simple styles (braids) I hope it doesn't take more than 4 1/2 hours. That would leave us with 1 1/2 for pictures before hand leaving 30 before the ceremony for guests to arrive as the ceremony and reception are at the same place.

@Snarky that is good to hear! I am hoping it works out like that. I just need to be super organized and get everything as set up as I can beforehand.

I spent the night before the wedding at the hotel (venue for ceremony and reception) with my sister/MOH and nephew (DH stayed as well in a different room and some other members of the bridal party stayed with their families). I knew we would be up early(ish) as my nephew (who is 6) is up by 7 every morning. We got up, I went to the hotel's business center to check-in for our honeymoon flight the next day (and print our boarding passes) and we (my sister, nephew and I were joined by a BM, her husband and their 2 daughters). After breakfast, my nephew went to the pool with the BM's family and my sister and I went back to the room to relax and shower. Hair and make up arrived at noon (I didn't require anyone to get hair or makeup but arranged it for those that wanted it). We had a run through in the ceremony room (our "rehearsal") at 2 PM (without DH as I "ran" the rehearsal) followed by a lunch. Everyone was dressed and ready (except me) by 4:30 when I put my gown on for a 5 PM ceremony start (I didn't want pictures before the ceremony). So I think its safe to say you should have a pretty relaxed morning if your day was like my day.

My ceremony wasnt until.6:30pm. So my morning was amazing and calm, but when my make up artist got.there around 1 it all got hectic after that. I felt rushed when getting dressed, but in actuality everything was flowing right On time.

@Chantel how many did you have in your bridal party and did you take pictures beforehand? I feel like starting hair and makeup at 11 seems a bit to early....
