How much time to take off work?

MrsRies&Love, on June 12, 2017 at 8:47 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 77

How far before the wedding is everyone going to take off from work? I was thinking the Thursday before our Saturday wedding through after the honeymoon. Those already wed, did you regret not taking off more time?

I'm only taking a couple of days before the wedding off. I don't have a lot of vacation time at my job, so I'm saving as much as I can for the honeymoon.

I left early on Thursday for our Friday wedding and was off the week after for our honeymoon. I started at this job recently so I didn't have a lot of time available to take off. I wish that I could have taken more time off, before and after. I could have used more time to prepare and more time to adjust after we got back from vacation.

I am a full time nursing student and work part time. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about my classes, but I did request to be off work the week before and the week after. We will be taking our honeymoon once I graduate in April 2018.

I took 2 days off for our Sunday wedding. So technically I had 3 days and I needed those 3 days in general to just get things done but also space things out and not stress. The day before was actually very relaxing and I am glad I had that extra day.

I've requested a half day the day before our wedding through the day after we come back from our honeymoon. I can't take more before because I'm starting a new job in a few weeks, so I won't have a ton of PTO.

Initially, I was going to take off the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (for my Saturday wedding).

However, the weekend before my wedding was Easter weekend, so the Friday and Monday were public holidays. I ended up having: Friday *Easter Weekend* Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

And then I went on honeymoon directly after.

I do NOT regret taking all that time, although I ended up with negative leave that I have to work back in for the next few months. I had a lot of last minute things to do (due to a combination of factors), plus a house guest. By the day before my wedding, everything was done and I was relaxed.

I was only able to take the day before my wedding off because I was already taking the following week off for our honeymoon. It worked out fine but I really wish that I could have taken the whole week off (or at least another day or two) but that wasn't an option with my job.

I work two part time jobs and so I dont receive any paid time off. Because of this it is very hard for me to take any time off at all. I will be taking off from my night job probably starting the wednesday before. My day job only needs me until 2pm, 3pm at the latest so I probably will only take off friday from there so that we can head down to our venue friday evening to meet any OOT guests and because our rehearsal will probably need to be on friday since our wedding is sunday and We cant guarantee that there wont be a wedding the day before.

We are taking 3 days off before the wedding and 2 days after, since we have some family staying after the big day

I will be taking off the day before and perhaps request to work from home or do a half day the day before that if I have to. We are planning to leave for our honeymoon the monday following our saturday wedding and I will be out until the tuesday following for our honeymoon. I accumulate leave at 8 hrs/ month for vacation so I'll need 8 or 9 total days of vacation. I may have to take a day or two unpaid.

I'm taking off 4 days before my wedding. Our honeymoon is immediately after. Then I have off a week after the honeymoon. So a total of 2 1/2 weeks.

I'm a teacher on summer vacation, so I don't have to take any time off. But FH is taking off the week of our wedding through the end of the week we get back from our honeymoon.

Our wedding is on a Saturday so I plan to take Thursday and Friday off to do any last minute things and just hopefully relax a little. Definitely taking a spa day on Thursday lol.

It sounds like more time is better. Hopefully I can get off Wednesday-Friday. I think three days before would be enough to get myself together.

I will be taking off the week before my wedding til the day after we come back from our honey moon. With the holidays in the mix I ended up requesting 11 PTO days altogether.

My wedding falls at the end of a pay period, so my plan has always been to work an extra hour each day so I could take that Friday off and still be at my 90 hour bi-weekly time card. But I actually just got a new job with a tiny company that takes every Friday off in July, so I won't even have to do that! I'm taking two weeks off for the honeymoon, which is the maximum amount of time to be away anyway, and I wouldn't give up one minute of honeymoon for a day around home wrapping everything up.
