How much time are you taking off work?

Just curious to know how many ladies are working up to the day of or day before or returning the Monday after. Taking the week before or after off? How long is FH taking off?

I took off a week. The schedule was:

    Sunday

Drive from the DC area to Massachusetts, stay overnight in Worcester.

    Monday

Go to court to get a waiver of the three-day waiting period for marriage licenses.

Go to the marriage license office to apply for and get the marriage license.

Pick up a friend at the airport.

Drive to Acton, where we and all our guests were staying in a big house with several separate units.

    Get manicures.

    Meet with rabbi.

Order a bunch of pizzas delivered for the "rehearsal dinner."

    Tuesday

Drive with wedding party to the ceremony venue.

Dude of honor sent off to buy challah for the blessing over bread.

    Flowers delivered.

Hair and make-up person arrived. While NotFroofy was having hair and make-up done, maid of honor and I were decorating the synagogue.

Photographer arrives, takes getting ready pictures.

    Ceremony.

Reception (lunch in the private dining room of a nearby restaurant)

    Return to Acton.

Pick up food from the nearest supermarket, and make dinner for everyone.

    Wednesday

    Make breakfast for everyone.

Travel from Massachusetts back to the DC area.

    Thursday

    Begin decorating for at-home reception.

    Friday

    Continue decorating for at-home reception.

    At-home reception.

Begin packing up stuff from at-home reception to take home.

    Saturday

Pick up all the stuff from the at-home reception that we weren't able to get the night before.

We didn't take a honeymoon, but the schedule was still crazy for the whole week. NotFroofy's schedule was the same as mine, except that she was making the wedding cake while I was decorating.

We have to travel to Illinois for the wedding and my contract is up October 7 but I cut mine short so I'll be working 1/2 day on Friday the 30th (plan to leave at 3pm) and then I'll be off the whole week of and then I'm taking the week off after (we aren't doing a real honeymoon but taking a mini trip and I want time to just relax and we are driving back just the two of us and then perhaps going somewhere Wednesday and Thursday night for our mini moon) and then probably the Monday off after the week after ...

Also, if you can afford to take a day or two in between the wedding and leaving for your honeymoon, I HIGHLY suggest it. It was so nice to have a little bit of time with my new husband to soak everything in, catch up on a little bit of sleep, and it was definitely nice not to have to worry about packing for the honeymoon on top of last minute wedding day organization. Plus, by the time we got to Jamaica, we weren't exhausted from the wedding festivities. Just something to think about.

I have a new job and will have almost 2 weeks PTO by next April...

I will take off Friday because the festivities start Thursday night (when I will get bridal mehendi/henna done) and the wedding is Saturday. Hopefully I can work overtime, etc and only take a half day. Then, we are definitely doing 2 weeks for our honeymoon - I'm going to try and convince everyone to let me have a week off unpaid and have 3 weeks for our honeymoon. It's a once in a lifetime event!! And we've always wanted to backpacking through Europe or Brazil. So 11 PTO days and maybe 5 unpaid.

The to-be-hubby has 6 weeks of PTO because he NEVER takes time off! He will probably take a few days before the wedding and drive everyone around. Smiley smile

I do have a funny story about this. At the time of my first wedding, I was working full-time and going to law school 3/4 time, so the wedding was on a Sunday and I really had to be back on Monday. So I work the whole day, then go off to my law school class. At the end of the class, a fellow student approaches me and asks if I can give him a ride, because he lives near me and his car is in the shop. I tell him sure, my husband will be coming by to pick me up, and he can give both of us a ride. So as we're going over the 14th Street Bridge toward home, the classmate asks, "So, how long have you two been married?" I say cheerfully, "Since yesterday." Classmate turns white as a sheet and asks, "Umm, am I interrupting anything?" And the only response I could think of was, "Not while my husband is driving 50 miles an hour down the road, you're not!"

I believe i'll be working up to the week of the wedding, since i work on weekends and my wedding falls on a weekend. FH gets the Sat off before the wedding and then he gets a week off which starts on our wedding day, not much time

Our wedding is on a Friday. I'm taking off from the Wed before the wedding through the next week and going back to work on the Tuesday after that. FH is doing the same thing.

I will most likely schedule off on Thursday and Friday before wedding and the whole week after the wedding. We will most likely come back from our honeymoon on Saturday and I will go back to work on Monday. So I will be using about a week and a half PTO.

We are getting married on Sunday. I am flying to NC Thursday and returning Tuesday. We are actually on fall break at our school, so I will have the rest of the week. However, my husband will have to return to work Tuesday night, he works twelve hour shifts.

We are not doing a honeymoon right away and unfortunately, we will be living across the country from each other until July 2012 Smiley sad

We are having two separate weddings one on Friday and one on Saturday. I am going to be taking off from the Wednesday before and then for 27 days after for our Australia NZ honeymoon, so about 4.3 weeks total.
