How much should we pay our wedding officiant?

My fiance and I are going to have a lady that we work with officiate our wedding. We have known her for about 6 months now but have become pretty close in the recent months. Being as kind hearted as she is, she says that we wont owe her anything but I feel bad for not paying her a little something (besides the food at the rehersal and wedding). Im not sure how much officiants usually run. Any suggestions?

We got our officiant a generous gift card to a nice restaurant downtown that he can take his family to. He insisted we do not pay him money. A gift card isn’t cash, right? 😂

I like what Mrsblair said! Our officiant is also our pastor who isn't taking a fee from us but our mother wanted to give him a gift anyway and I agree.

We hired an Officiant for $275. We didn’t know her and this is her job, she does like 160 weddings a year!

Officiants can charge you money?! I'd go for a gift card, as others have said-- or any nice token of appreciation, flowers and a bottle of prosecco or something. Our officiant is coming all the way from Uzbekistan so we're going to owe her something very fancy...!

Since she has a personal relationship to you and not a hired officiant or religious one I think a nice gift card to a nice restaurant is great! We are donating probably $200 to my FH's church because his pastor is marrying us. We probably won't do more simply because FH doesn't even attend church services anymore and I have never even been to that church. I'd be fine with a $150 donation as well.
