How much does wedding photography cost on average?

Midwest here. I'm finding the upper end to be $2k I found mine and struck a deal for $1400 for two photographers all day. Their usual rate is $1800. I think that's pretty average in this area. Of course you can find those people who call themselves photographers for way less... don't do that. lol

I'm in Phoenix and we budgeted $3,000, which is pretty average. This area really can go anywhere from around $1000 to $10,000 on the extreme end.

ETA: Mine comes with two shooters for eight hours, a 1.5-2 hour long engagement session, a 30-page album, and all prints on a hosted website with a print release.

$3500 1 photographer 6-7 hr of coverage, digital files, in northern CA

My average is around $3500.00. Talent and area make costs vary. How about learning how your pick of photographer works before forming all the pre conceived notions, like second shooters, etc. First make sure you can hire the one you want and learn how they work. Not how you assume they should.

4000 two shooters, 8 hrs, and no engagement session or album.

Not the cheapest and not the most expensive but definitely in the upper bracket.

We spent about $2200 but just remember to think about copyrights. Our photographer will turn over the copyrights to us after the wedding, not all photographers will do that or some will charge extra...

$2600, 8 hours, 2 photographers, includes digital images with print release, and a 45 minute engagement session.

$4990 got us 2 photographers, 8 hours, engagement session, digital images, and the most amazing album made in Italy. We're located in Chicago.

Mine comes with our package, but their packages start at $2399 if we hired them alone (Long Island, NY)

In NOVA. With the extra hour that I added to the package we are spending $4100. Includes two shooters, 9 hours, engagement session. We actually originally budgeted to love ($2500) and I found nobody that I loved near that price. Thankfully we started looking at photographers early so I was able to make budget adjustments.

We're paying 1800 for 6 hours. No engagement session since it is a DW and we won't have time to fly down before the wedding.

$1500 for 6 hours, no engagement session and one shooter. We care about photography but it's not our largest priority so we tried to find ways to cut down the package cost by having 1 shooter, no video etc.

We are doing an engagement session separately through a more amateur photographer for $115 for 45 minutes.

The wedding is in the Chicagoland area. The engagement shoot is just north of Milwaukee where we live.

I am in the Tampa area and we are paying $1800 for 8 hours with 2 shooters, 2 CD and our engagement session.

This cost varies so much depending on location, skill of photographer, what's included, how many hours, etc. I think for my wedding, we paid about $4,200 for 6.5 hours of photography and videography. Photography is not a place to skimp! It's the one thing (besides a spouse) that you have after the day is over :-) It's true that you often get what you pay for with a service like this. Pick someone first and foremost whose photos you LOVE and are passionate about. Do research and read lots of reviews, cross reference websites, etc. Make sure the person has good communication and addresses your questions and concerns. Wedding photography is often one of a couples biggest splurges and with good reason! Skip other unnecessary items (favors, programs, save the dates, less flowers, less decor, etc.) if needed to save for a great photographer.

North central PA, $2875- engagement shoot, edited images and rights on USB, 8 hours

Mine is $975.00 for 8 hours of coverage, prints, image disc and a mini engagement session with 10 prints.

Central Florida and I booked mine at $1500.00 but I worked every angle to try to get my photography cost down without sacrificing quality. I have a Thursday wedding and my FH is military but she was willing to come down from $3000.00 for 8 hours of coverage.

Engagement, boudoir and videography are all separate prices from the wedding photography in most cases.. This likely won't save you any not having those needs. Most photographers in my area (central FL) ranged anywhere from $1,500 - $4,000 for a good photographer. Of course you can always find cheaper for someone less experienced.
