How much did you spend on bridal party gifts?

jennifer, on December 11, 2017 at 11:01 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

I'm trying to decide how much I should spend on each person. I know they are spending a lot of money on travel dresses and such and I don't want them to be like wow she was cheap. How much did you all spend per person and how did you come up with that amount? Thanks

I spent about 35 dollars per girl when I first asked them. I'm also paying for hair and makeup although that's not a gift, more just for peace of mind. A friend payed for my hair and makeup when I was her BM and I loved it so I wanted to treat my girls to the same.

ETA: the same bride who gave me the hair/makeup also gave us a small bag of goodies. Ive been in another wedding where I got nothing at all (and actually traveled to that one). Try to stick to a budget so you're not spending your money on something you (or they) will regret.

@greenebunny I’ve been doing the same thing with buying things and now I’m deciding how to wrap it all which made me come here. I was trying decide between putting everything in a throw away bag with tissue paper or a Vera tote in a pattern they like. I’m at $124 per girl at the moment. I forget how much Fh spent.

We are currently budgeting for $50 per each my MOH and his BM. Though we aren't having them travel outside of the city we live in and we are finding options to keep it as cheap as possible for them. Im not having her get her hair done or makeup and asked that we don't have any parties since we are having such a small wedding. I think you should spend enough that its reasonable in comparison to the contributions made by your guest but not over spend or break your bank.

I'm doing roughly about $200 for both of my MOHs (only bridal party). One has flown up to NYC 3 times for dress fittings, showers; the other is my sister and threw my bridal shower and bachelorette. They are also getting their gifts after the wedding. Because, money is flying out the door right now

I had four BM - each got $10 Starbucks cards, $25 to their fav or new restaurant, a luggage tag, a fun pair of socks that said "if you can read this bring me wine."

I also paid for their makeup and jewelry.

I just did what I could afford. Two of my BMs were H’s sisters who live in different states and I met them at the rehearsal dinner. I got them each a gift card for somewhere I knew they would go (REI and stubhub) and included an item with each (travel mug and accessories; fanny pack and wallet/cell case). I spent $75 each. My MOH and cousin BM spent a considerable amount on my shower so I went a little above and beyond, spent about $130/each and gifted them coffee mugs, scarves, necklaces, coffee mixes, plus gift cards to their favorite stores as well.

I'm spending more than I can really afford, but I started going overboard at the very beginning in like February of this year. Each girl is getting a tumbler, a monogrammed top, a bath bomb, their jewelry (which isn't a gift) and their makeup paid for, along with a hotel the night before that I paid for.

Pay for what you can afford and stop yourself when you've reached your limit lol.

I tend to go a bit overboard when I give gifts so I'm at about $200-250. But it's things I know they like and will use a lot.

I spent around $30 per girl when I asked them and will be spending around $100 on each of them in day-of gifts (personalized tote bags, personalized robes, and jewelry to wear). They all decided to get hair and makeup done, so I also offered to pay some of that for them ($50 per girl).

I didn't really set a certain budget, I just started looking for things I knew they'd like and would still be able to use after the wedding. I started purchasing some of the gifts early so it wouldn't turn into an overwhelming expense the month before the wedding.

Etsy was also enormously helpful for finding a lot of nice quality, and affordable, gift options!
