How much did you spend for Photographer/and or Videographer?

marjifarah, on June 4, 2019 at 4:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 22
So our budget was $2000 or lower for photographer and weren't planning on getting a videographer. I've been having a really difficult time finding a photographer I love, and when I did.. they're $1000-$2000 above our budget. There is a photographer who is willing to give me this package for around $3000 (2 photographers, 8 hours, videographer, an album) is that a good price? I don't know what to do!

$3,000 is a really good price for 2 photographers and a videographer!! I was planning on paying close to $4,000 for my photographer and videographer (which is less expensive than most) until I found my vendor that gave us photography, videography, and a photobooth for $2,250 (which is usually unheard of... it was a huge spring sale).

That's actually a really good price! Our photographer is $1200 for a 1 hour engagement session, 4 hours during the wedding, and 2 edited CDs. It was a little out of our budget but she's a friend and a single mom so hey, good cause right?

Photography and videographer is usually that much as you mentioned. Especially good or cool ones are even more. I saw this guy with drones and his was like 3-5k.
I'm spending less than $500 because my friend is doing it and she just basically only had me cover her travel costs but normally she says she charges around 2k too

That's a really good price. That's about what we are paying, and it doesn't even include the videography. Two shooters, 8 hours, etc. I know you said it's above your budget, but depending on what area you are in, this kind of vendor can be very expensive. I didn't want to spend that much on photography, but it's what it costs in my area, and we really wanted great pictures.

I think so. We are paying $3,200 for photographer and $2,500 for videography in Denver! The videographer was lower priced.

Here's what I learned. Most photographers (who don't have a store front) WILL negotiate pricing. I got 9 hours, 2 photographers, 15 highlight video w/drone footage for $2,100. It did not include the album but I will be getting it after the wedding ( once our finances go back to normal).

At first, I was like you. Had a budget and everyone seemed to be much more. I would reach out to them via wedding wire and once I found out how much they were I just messaged saying, "Thank you but unfortunately it's out of my price range". Almost all replied asking me what i was looking for and what my budget was and almost all replied with an adjustment on the pricing.

    Good luck!!

Yeah, photography is expensive. I told my FH we'd be spending $3,000 on a photographer, and he legitimately didn't believe me until he started looking himself. We're actually spending just under 3k, and getting an engagement shoot and 2 photographers day of for as long as we want them, and all the good (non-blurry) images they shoot as well as a lot (200 maybe?) edited.

Our photographer is $900 with engagement included, she does all day shooting and does the rehearsal. FH doesn’t understand how good of a few it is. Waiting until a little closer and getting more budget things sorted out before I bring up wanting a videographer!

This works for catering as well! More brides should try it! I have a professional chef doing out catering. We are getting chicken, steak, pasta, salad, fruit, rolls, and 3 hor deaurvs (shrimp cocktail, wings, and mozzarella meatballs for cocktail hour) for under $2200 for 150 people. Most are willing to negotiate

In my area photographers start around $2000 I've seen friends pay up to $5000. Yea if you ask to negotiate you can sometimes get it lower but $1000 less might be asking too much. Mine comes to $3000 and we're still ironing out the details, but that includes travel ect because I am asking her to come quite far. I think it's well within reason because she's done my friends weddings and an award winning photographer.

I agree that’s a really good price! I was looking at photographers around the $2K range and our videographer was a family friend and gave us a deal but he is usually $2500! I guess it depends on your area too. I’m in MD, so we sometimes get DC prices.

Hi not sure if this helps but I went on Thumbtack.com it has a pool of local professional vendors within budget. My budget for my wedding is pretty under 5,000. I got almost all my vendors from there and still had wiggle room for extra decorations and signs and what not. Hope this helps!

Our photographer was up and coming so we spent $800 on him for the whole day and he surprised us with a second shooter. He was incredible and now charges triple what we paid. We also paid $600 for our videographer. 2 videographers for 2 hours and they filmed the ceremony, the photos, and details shots and cut together a highlight. Would have liked to have the whole day on film, but with a smaller budget I was thrilled we found someone to come for only the ceremony which is the most important part of the day.

So total, before tips, was $1400.

My dad is paying for our photography. He is paying $2500 for all day, 2 photographers, and a photo album. So only $500 more for a videographer is a great deal!

That seems like an excellent price! If you like their work and absolutely need a videographer, I would take that deal if you can afford it.
