My dream church is asking for 1,400 to rent it for about 1hr and 30mins. Family n FH thinks its a lot for just the church...need help.

That's crazy high. My church wanted $1200 just for ceremony and $300 for pianist. We declined and decided doing everything at our venue for $550 and no gap between ceremony and reception was much better idea. And we LOVE our officiant and personalized ceremony that we now get to have that the catholic church would not allow.

Our church is $500 for parishioners and I think $700 for non-parishioners.

When i get a chance I'll take pics of it. I only have a video. We can't really afford it right now. Hopefully we find a better church or they give it to us at a better price. But thanks ladies you guys are really really helpful!!!!

We are getting married in the church I belong to, and it's $850 which includes the organist/pianist and floral arrangements for the alter.

We were in between having it at our church or at the basilica in Baltimore. The cost for the basilica was somewhere around $1500 for just the space - not including cantor, organist and priest. The cost made our choice for us. We had the wedding in our beautiful church and paid the "suggested donation" to the Church and paid for the organist and cantor ($400 for Church, $300 for music).

Our church is $765 (although the wedding coordinator at the church says she'll give us a discount as her wedding gift). But it's a beautiful historic Episcopalian church in downtown Madison, WI. It's right across the street from our state capital building. The non-member/non Episcopalian fee is exorbitant. I don't remember what, but maybe around 2K. I think a non-member but member of another Episcopal Church is $1200ish. So luckily FH is an Episcopalian and has been a member of this church his whole life! And our fee also includes candles, a bouquet of flowers, some cool lighting, and space to get ready.

That price sounds outrageous! I'd pass on that one.

Ours is just under $3,000 and is our one splurge - it's a historic church and weddings are how it makes 95% of it's income. We get use of it from as early as we want as long as our ceremony and guests are over/leaving by 3:45 PM for the 4:00 service however, we can stay and take pictures for as long as we want. We also have DOC, rooms to get ready in, an organist, flowers, and they will play the wedding bells for us. It was a really hard choice to make and I still second guess it but that is the part FH is most excited for so I try not to think about the price.

Ours is between $400 and $500. That covers the priest, organist/music director, vocalist and general fee to use it. It's recommended that we tip the altar servers so we'll give them something & most likely give extra.

Wow that's crazy. Our catholic church in Miramar only charged us $400. I think your church is ripping you off. Don't forget most churches don't include the musicians and singers so that is another charge you have to add to your ceremony. And if you're catholic there's also the mandatory pre-cana class which is about another $200. I say keep searching...that amount could go towards your catering which will be very expensive already (if you're having a big wedding which I assume you do if your church is that expensive). Usually the bigger the church the more expensive the ceremony price is.

My dream church was over $1000 and not worth it for the half hour ceremony in my opinion. I'm also catholic and our pre Cana was only $75 and they provide beer & wine Smiley smile Smiley smile Smiley smile Smiley smile

Wait...you have to pay?! To use your own church?! That's crazy! We aren't being charged and we're in there for 2 days!

Of course we'll make a donation but being charged to get married in your own church is crazy.

My church is charging us $400 because we aren't members. But we always are receiving pre marital counseling. If we were members I think they said it's be $150
