How much did you pay for calligraphy?

SunshineJenn, on March 12, 2014 at 2:16 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

There are a few places near me that do it, but prices aren't on their website (of course). I didn't think I wanted it done, but it might be cheaper than buying a printer, honestly. My handwriting is terrible. How much did you pay for calligraphy? (It helps to know how many envelopes you had/have, too).

I haven't paid for it yet Jenn, but I found an Etsy vendor that will do it with a gel pen for $1.50 for the outer envelope and $2.00 for the inner and outer envelope. She also does it in dipped pen and ink as well, but I can't remember the pricing. Not sure if you're wanting to entertain going in that direction, but I can send you the link for her shop :-)

Jenn, I just used clear labels and fancy fonts to do my labels. I know some will frown upon it but they are clear labels and they honestly turned out great. $12.00 at staples! I was able to use the color I wanted too. (purple)

I really don't want to use clear labels, and....we don't own a printer. Smiley smile We are almost completely paperless, and anything we do need to print off, which is rare, we just do at work since neither of our employers care.

MnDex, would love the link! I hate mailing them off, but if it's much cheaper than local vendors, I'd rather do that. Is the turn-around time pretty fast?

Here you are Jenn :-) It doesn't say on the listing what her turn-around time is, but I'm sure she could tell you if you ask. Hope this helps.

We're paying $3.50 per inner/outer envelope set (it would've been$2.50 for just the outer envelope). We're sending out 203 invitations.

We had the rsvp envelope and outer envelope embossed with the return addresses, but she would have done it for $1.75 (response envelope) and $1.50 (return address on outer envelope).

ETA: When I do calligraphy for people (parties, business meetings/cards, etc.), I charge $2 per envelope.

If you don't care about it being calligraphy, just readable, could any of your wedding party or friends or anyone else do it? Paying for someone's dinner or something for the evening would be a lot cheaper than getting them all professionally done.
