How many tables??

Abigail, on October 5, 2011 at 1:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I am having a wedding of around 60-70 people but we aren't doing a seating chart. Obviously there is going to be couples and families...so if everyone sat perfectly we could do 9 tables. (8 people per table)

But since I know that won't happen...how many should I set up?

like I said there is going to be 8 per table and around 70 people.

It's a wedding. People should want to sit together and socialize. I wouldn't suggest any more than one additional table. You don't want to overdo it and end up with a crowded space with too many tables and guests spread out too much.

I agree with Latisha B. What size tables are you using? A 60inch round table seats 8 to 10 people, although I wouldn't squeeze for 10 so that there comfy.

What od you mean if everyone sat perfectly?! What else are there options?! lol.... 9 tables is fine. i have like 80 ppl and i am doing 10 tables to let em spread out some... cause i dont want them crowded.... but 9 is plenty. Since you're not doing a seating chart, I wouldn't worry. but maybe do a reserved table for the parents?!

I vote assigned tables =). As a guest I dislike looking for a seat and as a bride I don't want to pay for extra centerpieces/ tables/ chairs/ glasses (but I'm renting all of my table stuff, you may not be).

I vote assigned tables too. If anyone is there alone and doesn't know many people besides the bridal party, they may end up sitting alone (this happened to me at a wedding once and it was AWFUL).

So PLEASE assign tables. People like having some direction and 60 -70 people is not that many to seat.

Well how many can the venue hold?

Keep in mind the fewer tables, the fewer centerpieces, the more money you save. I would go with a seating chart. It is just to get people into seats quickly and efficiently. People can still switch with each other and get up and mingle.

I hate going to weddings with no seating chart. It is so awkward: "Where do we sit? There is no table with enough room for all of us? How are we going to split up?"
