How many ppl to a table?

Kerry , on September 22, 2017 at 11:18 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 35

Q: my best friend is getting married in 3 weeks!

Tonight, we are finalizing going over the seating chart and where to put everyone.

It's a buffet and the venue would like 10 ppl per table. Is that too much? It seems like it would be too crowded- suggestions / advice would be great.

Thanks

I'm having 10 tables of 10 people to a table, I don't think it's too many people. My dinner is plated meals though, not buffet.

Depends on the size of the table. I personally would not put 10 people at a 60" round table.

The venue generally suggests number of people per table based on the size of the table. I would go with the number that they give.

The venue should tell you how many per table they prefer based on the size of the tables they have.

My venue has small/narrow tables, so we only get 6 to a table. It's gonna be a PITA when trying to assign tables but it is what it is.

Our venue's tables fit between 8 and 12 at a table. Ours varied depending on who we wanted to sit together

It definitely depends on the size of the table. My venue offers two different size round tables. We will be using the larger size as we are having 10-12 people per table. We are also doing buffet style.

We're going with 6 but with only 24 people we have lots of flex. It might depend on the number of tables you feel fit comfortably in the venue space, how many total people will be there, and what kinds of groupings you're going to have. I liked fewer per table so everyone can talk. Also planning for low centerpieces so it doesn't impede conversation.

We will have 8 round tables that will seat up to 10 guests, and 5 round tables that will seat up to 8 guests (some of those will actually have 9 guests and 7 guests respectively). Honestly, we knew that some people would not want to be separated, so we were cool with going up to 10 per table if necessary. I can't remember the size of the tables off the top of my head, but we did view what a table of 10 would look like at the venue and it looked fine!

ETA: I've also attended weddings where I sat at a table of 10 and I was comfortable!

My mom was adamant no more than 8 to a table - 10 was crowded. Just because you "can" fit them, doesn't mean you "should"

We have the 5 foot round tables and seating 8 per table. I don't want our guests to feel squished.

60" round tables really only fit 8 people comfortably. Don't put 10 at them. It's not comfortable and very squished during dinner. You literally can't push all 10 chairs in at once. Unless they're tiny chairs. But then you're banking none of your guests will be a tad overweight.

My stepmom is a larger woman and told me no more than 8 to a table. I would hate anyone of any size to be uncomfortable.

Ten people at a 60 inch table is too many. I like when we have eight at a 60 inch table. Everything fits nicely. We also have 72 inch tables which will seat up to 12 people. Just think about the place setting, glasses, centerpieces, favors (if on table) and elbow room.

If it's what the venue recommends go with that.

Between 8 to 10 per table. I went to a wedding that had 12 people per table and it was so uncomfortable. Plus being elbow to elbow with people you don't know was extremely weird. (at least to me it was).

We have 60-inch rounds. Caterer and venue both highly suggested 8 table.
