How many photos do you actually need?

Sarah, on November 5, 2019 at 7:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
Hi there! We’re scoping out wedding planners in Hawaii, and like the idea of the ones that have photographers as part of their packages. Some have 24 final photos, some 75, and some 300! Of course these all vary with price, quality, etc. How many photos do you actually need at the end of the day? I can’t figure out if 24 is enough, if 75 is too many..?!

We are also planning a Hawaii wedding. We went with the 100-200 photo range, with access to all of the raw footage instead of the altered ones.

If you're eloping I would do 100, especially if you'll have family or friends there. If you're having both a ceremony and reception definitely do 300. Look at it from this perspective - ( getting ready, details, couples photos, wedding party, family photos, ceremony, reception, cake cutting, reception exit )

Good point, thanks! We’ll have just a ceremony with immediate family and maybe a few close friends. Nothing major or overly complicated. That makes sense!

We have our photographer for 4 hours, ceremony and reception, with a group of 40 ( wedding party and guest) and she told us that’s about 100 photos an hour. So total 300-400 photos. Seems like a ton of photos but it’ll be nice to have every moment captured and with us forever. Plus it comes with an engagement session that we can do a few days before the wedding and she’ll have a few photos ready by the wedding in case we want to set them up, so that’s a nice little extra. Good luck and congratulations 🎉

We will be on Kauai too!
We chose the waterfall ceremony, but our planner (Islands weddings & blessings) is getting us beach photos too. With us, it’ll be a total of 10 there Smiley smile I can’t wait!

The more the better! Think of it this way: Limited to 24 you will no doubt find 75-100 you LOVE or a family member would..... As a model I always prefer to have more and then if I don’t use it par down cost by saying “the 300 we could’ve taken we only want these 100- what can we do price wise?” & see what happens.

So exciting!! We’re even more excited to just get married and already be on our honeymoon. We’re thinking of Airbnb, and cook from there a bit, just to save some money. What are y’all doing? Any cool places we should adventure to you know of?

Oh that’s a good idea to try and negotiate that a bit - I like that verbiage. Thanks for the tip 😊

Save up and go on a helicopter ride, it is so worth it! I found out during our trip last time that I get super sick on water or air, so we had to buy Dramamine (both sleepy/nonsleepy). I almost threw up on that helicopter ride!

We didn't swim with sharks in Kauai, we did it in Oahu, but I heard you can also swim with sharks in Kauai. Definitely do that! Again, I needed Dramamine.

You need to go check out the Canyon, this time I had Dramamine with me when we were driving on all the curved roads up and down checking out the canyon and their red soil.

The best part of Kauai is you can just drive around the roads and explore all of the little towns that there are, it's so chill and laid back it's amazing. And there are just random chickens everywhere...

We'll be staying at the Grand Hyatt. We stayed here last time, as well as the Marriott (cause it was cheaper). So we did all of our touristy days while we were at a cheaper Marriott hotel and then lounged for a few days at the Grand Hyatt. If you can you should try to see if you can swim at the Grand Hyatt pool, it's so incredibly beautiful and big. There's this lazy river that connects between all of the pools, there's little waterfalls you can walk through in the lazy river, and a water slide!
