How many photos did guests actually contribute to your wedding hashtag?

Allie , on November 16, 2017 at 9:18 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 28

Ladies, how many pics did your wedding guests actually contribute to your hashtag? None of my married friends (and I have LOTS of them lol) have ever received more than 10 pics and were a bit disappointed. So what's point? Is it just something fun to do?

    O. We didn't have one. And I've never used one, for someone else's wedding. I let their paid professional photographers do their job.

Didn't they hire a pro photographer? If so, who would be worried about cell phone snaps? Let the guests enjoy themselves.

We don't have a hashtag for photos. We have a hashtag because it's a fun play on words! (MannAndWife)

But a couple of my cousins/siblings/friends used it for my bridal shower pics so that was cool.

Only one person used our hashtag. Most people just tagged us in pictures on Facebook.

I think it depends on your guests. Some guests will not know what a hashtag is... depends on how tech savy they are.

I don't plan on creating a hashtag for our wedding. I've used hashtags for weddings, I attended.

I almost always end up using at least one pic with the wedding hashtag. I have been wondering about it too since I've seen signs usually posted up by the bar or by seating cards encouraging the hashtag but hardly anyone uses them.

It also depends on your guests privacy settings. For example, if I'm not friends with a guest on whatever social network they posted it on, I may not see it. Even if they used the hashtag. It's a fun way to keep photos organized. But don't expect them to be a way to get tons of great photos for your wedding. That's what your professional photographer is for.

We actually didn’t create our hashtag, my MOH did. Somehow people caught on and we had about 50 pictures (some that we really love and our photographers missed). Hashtags get some flak around here, but we actually enjoy using them for other people’s weddings.

I got maybe 15 or so? A lot of people just posted to Facebook and tagged us. Like others have mentioned, I liked seeing some pictures while I wait for the ones from my photographer.

I had a pretty social media savvy crowd too and we got about 10-15 people who used it and posted sets of photos on Instagram. I like looking back through them. We didn't advertise it with a sign, it just spread through word of mouth. In our experience at least, most of the pictures people posted are of them having fun at the wedding which I enjoy more than pictures of us that the photographer would have captured. Especially since I didn't get to spend a ton of time with each person at the wedding, its nice to look back at the pictures seeing them have a good time.

We didn't use a hashtag. I did configure the WedSocial app through WW but it wasn't used (which was expected). We did, however, get tagged in plenty of FB postings.

ETA: I forgot about the ones that were emailed to us directly.

We didn't have one. Our friends tagged us in photos because it was easier than misspelling the hashtag, forgetting it, or using the wrong one.

I always try to use a hashtag if a couple has one. I just checked my instagram for our hashtag and there were 37 posts (some posts had multiple pictures), not all were from the wedding day, some were from the bridal shower and bachelorette party but most were from the wedding and it is nice to be able to have a quick way to see everyone's pictures from then. It also let me see my guests enjoying themselves.

Even when there are pros, they can't be everywhere at once and don't always get the pictures up right away.

ETA: for facebook most people just tagged my in the pictures

We made a game out of ours, challenging guests to find certain pics like: a beautiful white dress, something shiny, a couple kissing, something yummy, etc. We got some really cool shots our PP didn't get; about 30 photos in all.

We probably got between 30-50 shared pics from the wedding weekend. we didn't super actively encourage folks but our friends are pretty social media savvy. we had our hashtag printed on a sign at the venue. i personally loved having these photos to look back on in addition to our amazing professional photos. our pals captured some lovely moments that we hadn't witnessed ourselves.

There's more than just women here.

Everyone tagged me in pictures the next day. There was no need for a hashtag because I got them all anyway.

    Hashtags are unnecessary.

If a couple has a hashtag and I post pictures from the wedding, I definitely use it! I think they're fun. It's also a good way to find all the photos in one spot.

I also think Charlene's idea is super fun!

We are NOT posting our hashtag at the ceremony or announcing it at all. It's mostly for me to use, and if people want to jump in and post pics on it then sure.

People who follow me on social media might know our hashtag, and can use it.

Seriously? The OP was obviously not insinuating that hashtags would take the place of professional photos. What a weird conclusion to jump to...

We had a hashtag and it wasn't really used. Maybe like 8-10 pictures. But we were tagged in quite a few pictures on Facebook without the hashtag.
